@vegsource @YoAtomic Thanks for the 1975 study link. Anyway, McDougall have said that calorie restriction is not needed. Is he changed is opinion nowdays? I hope no :D Because if its rice then it's not very much fat to store, but it gives people energy, if they don't move it just goes out as heat..

@vegsource @YoAtomic Article with references (I haven't checked those) says that Kempner's diet was ≈2000 calories for overweight diabetes patients. ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.11… 400 calories only seems very big restriction, I would be very hungry, if I would following that

@YoAtomic @vegsource If he would take his vague shirts off then belly can be seen better.. I don't eat much processed stuff too.. But organic table sugar, natural juice, dried dates I don't consider very much processed. Beyond burger this is processed junk.. Or olive oil, or protein powder ..

@YoAtomic @vegsource Nut's are very calorie tense. Greger recommends those :) I think he just confuses people with his complex plans. Actually he is a bit fat too (although he walk in treadmill) when compared with fit athlethes who eat high carb diet, what gives power to train...

@jane_buscemi @vegsource well, yep I like to listen nutrition specialists too :) Even if they repeat pretty much same things in their talks.. I don't check very much complex studies, I'ts really hard to understand those and many are biased too.

@YoAtomic @vegsource I'm not afraid of calories. Carb's calories give smile to my face (there's no any significant weightgain, if diet is low-fat) I think I will burn most of them and if not then it goes out with body heat - currently not very much physical activity in winter, but weight stays same.

@jane_buscemi @vegsource Can't give gredit because he teaches people wrong. They will fail soon as plant eaters because it's hard to follow complicated plans with many rules. There's no need to listen complex science, I eat just potatoes, brown rice, bananas, oats, berries, some vegs etc. It's simple!

@YoAtomic @vegsource cereals are ok, some table sugar added to oatmeal top makes it tasty. It's healthy too, McDougall knows it. Same is with bitter berries,fruits - I sweeten them with sugar. Counting calories and drinking green tea to disguise hunger can lead to depression :)

@DrKeithAyoob And what's good in dairy? There's huge difference between human milk or cow's milk. U can tell what nutrients one will miss when consume whole plant based diet (most healthy). I love how you beat Dr. Atkins at USDA debate (2000), but suggesting to someone dairy, is not good idea

@Simpson_Rick in a form of complex carbohydrates that are in plants (rice corn sweet potatoes etc) sugars are actually healthy. But yes simple table sugar is not health food but its still far better than syntetic sweeteners like aspartame what they are nowdays put more and more to softdrinks
