Phase is what governs every choice we make. Compression, equalization, filters and all the tools you can use will induce changes in phase and therefore colorization of the sound. Sometimes good, sometimes bad! To me, a sound engineer is a phase manager! #musicproduction #mixing
It's not because a sound works extremely well in a production, that it'll work in another one. it's the whole of a production's choices that make its magic, not an isolated sound. That's part of an engineer's job. It's to find the magic in the moment! #musicproduction #recording

@JDejenkins It really depends. I like it when it's artistically used, but don't like when it's used as: "my track needs to reach what the norms are asking me to reach". To be honest compression can really be beautiful sometimes, but sometimes it can be really disgusting 😅
In my ideal world, compression is unnecessary. ⬜️
