Well imo I do think you could see him as THE problem when it comes to his romantic relationships bc he chooses the person, but then he resists that choice and never fully commits to the other person in a real way. All I’m saying is Louis also did and DOES have responsibility for his own choices and the situations he ends up in. He is a grown capable adult. Infantalizing him and acting as if he has no choices is not it.

@arthurianmaiden @NemoEntropy @wwdititis @THEEBADDESTLES Louis is a strong and intelligent person with his own agency. He is not only a victim. He did have power in his relationship with Lestat. Not as much as he should have, bc of the time period and the power imbalance with Lestat, but he did have choices he could’ve made and didn’t.

Yes, Lestat knew he shouldn’t, and he did anyway, and that’s his wrong, but he told Louis why they shouldn’t and Louis literally begged him.

He just didn’t want to make a vampire, which is why he was so resistant to making Madeline & why he asked Armand to do it, bc he didn’t want that responsibility.

He created the situation that caused that and then begged Lestat to fix it for him by making Claudia. He knew how to create vampires, he could have done it, but he didn’t want to truly own that

I feel that saying that Lestat was the cause of Louis's breakdown in 1x1 is incredibly disrespectful to what was going on in Louis's life. Louis's spiral is because of Jim Crow, his guilt, shame and internalized homophobia, Paul's death, and Florence's abuse. Straight up.

@nymfaerie @_kalikokat_ I think they get so upset bc they’re so set on seeing Lestat as a two dimensional villian instead of a complex fully realized character that they get angry when he’s presented with any three dimensionality bc they don’t want to feel for him in any way, they just want to hate him
