I am seeing a lot of points about the cost of buying a home, food, and the rest. The complaints are valid. The solutions are not. Our dollar doesn't go as far as it did for our parents or grandparents because of government spending, which enhances inflation. In the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, our debt-to-GDP ratio was between 30% and 60%, which meant our dollar was worth much more. A person could live on a starter salary and even buy a home. You didn't need two or three incomes just to survive. Even in the 1990s and early 2000s, while inflation was rising, it was manageable, and you could still buy a house without being thousands of dollars in debt. You can afford a college education at a reasonable investment. At that point, our federal debt was between 55% to 65%. Since then, the value of the dollar and our paychecks have collapsed, and it is directly connected to our federal debt. The more money the FED prints, the less our dollar is worth. Since then, our debt-to-GDP has been between 95% and 130%. Not only does that debt devalue our paychecks, but it can kill a nation. We need to cut spending and force the government to operate within the 4.6 to 6.1 trillion dollars in tax revenue it receives each year.

We are at the All-Star Break of the season, and the games the Mets play will mean as much as a neighborhood softball game. We all know David Stearns has not lived up to the advertised expectations. 2024 was driven more by the players having a spark and a run than by anything Stearns did. Then we all know the rest. So, with this draft underway, Stearns not only has to rebuild the Mets into a winning organization over the next two years, but he may also be trying to save his career. I hope he rebounds, because his success is the Mets' success. I guess all we can do is watch and hope. #LGM
