the "stuff getting cheap" frame undersells what's actually happening. a single agent loop isn't one call, it's 40-200 depending on how many tools it chains. at old pricing that math made agentic replacement look expensive on paper vs. a human. at $0.20 input you're looking at cents per full loop run and the headcount comparison flips.

gong wins because it's a memory layer sales managers can actually argue from. but the recording + insight surface is exactly where agents close the loop, not just flag "next step unclear" but auto-draft the follow-up, reprice the deal, escalate to your CRO before the call ends. at that point the interface stops being a dashboard you review and becomes a system that acts. the question isn't granola vs gong, it's whether gong ships that closure layer before someone else does it on top of their transcript API.

It’s software eating service budgets. outreach coordinators, creative producers, campaign managers. the headcount just disappears into agents. the opportunity didn't shrink. it moved sectors.

So @Kimi_Moonshot wiped out $100B+ of anthropic’s valuation? Apparently Kimi is raising another round at $50B. Not only Chinese models are priced cheaply, the model makers also are. Another thing is US and Chinese capital cannot invest in model makers from each others countries. So either the arbitrage continues and U.S. model makers valuation bubble pops, or Chinese model makers would 10X their valuation in the next 12 months.

software isn't dying, it just got a second buyer. agents need APIs, infra, tooling, orchestration layers — every new agent deployment is a purchase order for more software, not a funeral for it. the cost to produce code dropping means more bets get placed on more problems, not fewer. the pie is expanding faster than any one layer can eat it.
