🚨 There’s a large-scale supply chain attack in progress: the NPM account of a reputable developer has been compromised. The affected packages have already been downloaded over 1 billion times, meaning the entire JavaScript ecosystem may be at risk. The malicious payload works by silently swapping crypto addresses on the fly to steal funds. If you use a hardware wallet, pay attention to every transaction before signing and you're safe. If you don’t use a hardware wallet, refrain from making any on-chain transactions for now. It’s still unclear whether the attacker is also stealing seeds from software wallets directly at this stage. The next item on my personal roadmap is bringing WASM to Algorand. Right now every contract on Algorand is executed by the Algorand Virtual Machine (AVM). The AVM, as the name suggests, is unique to Algorand and requires a lot of time and effort to continuously add new features. WASM is an established virtual machine that is commonly used in browsers but has many other use cases as well. It is the virtual machine used by other blockchains such as NEAR, ICP, Cosmos, and Polkadot. The main benefit we get from adopting WASM is the ability to easily leverage new compute-intense primitives, such as cryptographic functions, without having to change the protocol at all. This is particularly important for things such as Zero Knowledge Proofs and Post-Quantum cryptography, but also makes the protocol more sustainable in the long-term. There's still a lot of work to be done to make this a reality, but early results are promising. The third and final item on my personal roadmap is bringing smart-contract-based Tokens to Algorand. Of course, there are already various standards to do this such as ARC72, ARC200, or ARC20. All of these existing ARCs, however, have some sort of caveat. For ASA-based standards like ARC20 you still are bound by some of the limitations of the ASA. More open-ended standard like ARC200 make it hard to know when you can trust that a token will behave like you expect it to and not be a rug. ARC84 takes the best of both worlds and proposes a highly flexible smart-contract-based token standard that still has trusted accounting logic so you can be sure your tokens will behave as you'd expect. Furthermore, this ARC is intended to be fully compatible with ASAs (unlike ARC200) so bridging between a contract and ASA representation of the same asset can be seamless. I have already done a lot of the technical work for this ARC and have a fully functional MVP that enables swapping on tinyman without holding any ASAs and just ARC84 tokens (via automatic bridging). This ARC has currently been on the back burner because there are other more important things to address in the ecosystem, but I do think eventually this ARC will be the long-term solution to more flexible assets in the Algorand ecosystem. Really cool research! The keys we use on Algorand for signing (ed25519) are not PQ-secure, but the way they are derived (SHA512) is. This means if one can prove they know how the key was derived in a PQ way (ZK STARK) you can continue to use your existing account (key pair)

I've known Chris since he was an intern and he has been an amazing colleague, travel buddy, and friend since day one. I feel inclined to say something like "watching him grow has been amazing!" but the reality is he's been knocking it out of the park since day one. I remember watching him present at a developer event in Singapore (same event that JAWs announced AlgoKit) and all of us watching from the back of the room were talking about how good he was on stage... then we found out it was his first time presenting! Everyone knows how well he does in front of an audience (in person or virtual) but as a colleague I got to see how much work in put into not only making the content but truly understanding it. The amount of time and care put into even a short video is truly admirable and his presence will certainly be missed. That being said... @chriskim_dev I am incredibly happy to see you take advantage of new opportunities in your career. Leaving your fist job is always scary, especially in this industry, but I know you're going to continue to kill it!
