Dear friends, an update and a request. A bit long, but stay with me. Since I have been actively educating the public on harms of pseudoscientific practices such as Ayurveda and Homeopathy, I have [in]arguably become India’s most litigated medical doctor and science communicator and the target of multiple civil and criminal defamation suits and police cases from Ayurveda & Homeopathy practitioners, companies and alternative medicine industry. The alternative medicine practitioners, manufacturers and industry as well as government regulators have never disproven my science-backed information that portray them as a public health danger through scientific deliberations. They have no evidence to show for the benefits they claim and have never provided scientific debates to prove me wrong. Through objective evidence generation, me and my team have always shown how dangerous alternative medicine products and practices are on the public and patients. To this extent, we have spent tens of lakhs of rupees from our own pockets to analyse and publish large body of evidence on AYUSH practices and liver damage in reputed journals. The only way the alternative medicine community knows how to respond, is to gag the science communicator through legal harassments and expensive litigations. They do this purposefully to drain me out of money. As a monthly salaried medical doctor, with debts, loans and EMIs, it is now difficult for me to handle these suits on my own - because the Ayurvedic community has been systematically targeting me with harassment litigations from all corners of the country, and most so, from my State, Kerala. I have kind and good lawyers who have provided me counsel pro-bono on many occasions, but some lawsuits take long time to come to their conclusion. And the number of lawsuits are building up. This means multiple hearings and lot of work from the lawyers including documentation, travel and representation and it is only right, that I pay them for their services. Until now, including the largest lawsuit that I am fighting out with Himalaya Company, I have spent around 16 lakh rupees (USD 18,700) over the last 4 years battling these legal suits and replying to legal notices from all over India. I don't fight health misinformation for myself, but for the people and for my patients. As a doctor, I do not confine myself to outpatient work and enjoy my life inside a comfortable bubble like most other practitioners do, instead, I get outside, on the ground and fight for my patients, their families and you, the people. My passion is public health education and promotion of scientific temper in the society so that we can progress as a strong nation. I understand that because of my work, alternative medicine industry has faced loss of business, but that was never my real focus. My focus was that person or that patient, who was not mislead into trying an unscientific practice and damaging their health or worsening their pre-existing disease. I win, we win, if we can save one life - If we can prevent one poor person's money loss because of what we do. In a country like India, poverty is just a hospital bill away and preventive medicine is the right way to go. In this context, for the time being, I am asking you, the public if you would like to be part of my battle against health misinformation and promotion of scientific temperament? If so, I will be happy and obliged if you can donate to this cause that impacts all of us and our future. For now, I have activated the "TIPS" facility on Twitter for your kind contributions and me and my team are looking to develop a platform where the public can contribute to legal battles - for science, and also towards public health projects under the banner of the society that I am part of - MESH (Mission for Ethics and Science in Healthcare). Unfortunately, it is just me, doing the "needful dirty" work, for a price to pay and I wish there were more "Liver Docs" to ease my burden. Maybe in the future. Here is an update on this from my critical care team looking after nearly 32 new cases of Covid currently admitted to the hospital. The presentation is with fever for most, lasting only a few days. Various types of upper respiratory symptoms including hoarse voice and throat pain (laryngitis > pharyngitis), which also go away within a day or two. But here is the main symptom. Many are coming in with diarrhea. Painless, watery stools for a day or two followed by severe lethargy or fatigue. Lethargy can persist for weeks post discharge from hospital. So any patient comes with unexplained diarrhea, please check for Covid 19. The most common variant here is Omicron Jn.1 as per experts here. Now there are patients landing up in the ICU. But they are not going to the ICU because of severe Covid or because of pneumonia...pneumonia is almost nil in these patients. They are going to ICU because their pre-existing chronic diseases are worsening once Covid strikes. For example, patients entering ICU because of a major cardiac event or worsening diabetes. One of my patients had to be in a high dependency unit because he developed a reactivation of chronic hepatitis B virus and developed severe jaundice after he got infected with Covid. So the chronic metabolic disease, heart and brain disease and other oee existing disease worsening is the main concern for ICU admission and not direct Covid related severe disease. The majority of patients are recovering. Many are shifted out of the ICU and are on follow up. Major problems noted during follow up is weakness, low mood, poor sleep, recurrent hives and some with effort intolerance, that is even the mildest of activity makes them breathless and tired. Sleeping does not restore energy. No idea how long this is going to be.

I know exactly what I am talking about and do. I am a Doctor of Medicine. Allow me to explain. I am going to post a long one here, bear with me, because I think I need to spell out a lot of things here for you, because clearly you do not understand science, medicine or health and every gimmick of yours is a fraud, to sell BluePrint. I asked you questions regarding the same as a response to your message (in my DM) asking me if I was angry. I responded saying I was not and I only needed clear evidence from your side to prove your products have actual clinical data and objective evidence for the claims you have made on your website, selling them at a high price. Unlike your employees, I am not under any NDA with you that prevents me from posting messages in MY personal DM. By the way, your NDA with employees to mask your scams was recently reported by the New York Times. Your website, BluePrint also mentions to consume one level scoop with 6-24 ounces of water in your cup of choice and consume with food. Where did you find this dose to be useful? Is this dose the same for adolescents, adults and elderly? Safe for children and pregnant women? Where are the preclinical studies or at least a pilot trial that clarifies that this mix improved longevity in at least small animals? A study in zebra fish? You claim that Ashwagandha and Rhodiola "is an age-defying, nervous system supporting, cognitive function enhancing, immune system harmonizing" formulation without showing any evidence for those claims. Did you know that Ashwagandha has severe liver toxicity and is not for everyone. You can read our study on it here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37756041/. Next, Rhodiola. There isn't enough reliable information to know if rhodiola is safe to use long-term. Side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, excessive saliva, and in some cases, may worsen autoimmune conditions. Reports have shown that the additional consumption of Rhodiola rosea (golden root or roseroot) was suspected to have caused a herb-herb interaction resulting in the liver injury in patients. Any study to confirm it? Where is the study that shows that the combination is useful and safe? Will you be responsible for the severe side effects? Why are you scamming people with vague claims? In fact, did you know that the presence of citrinin and monacolin K in red yeast rice, which is chemically similar to statins, leading to potential side effects like muscle, kidney, and liver damage in consumers? Your ingredient description on red yeast rice and analysis documents do not mention the level of citrinin or monacolin K in your product. How did you come to the conclusion that this product is useful? Can you guarantee that through clinically relevant evidence, your product is found to be effective and safe? Where is that evidence? Now I have been patient with you and waited for your clear answers, to my questions which you are avoiding like a plague. Instead of acting like a snowflake and giving me character certificates on X, man up and defend yourself and you utter garbage called BluePrint by showing clinically relevant evidence for your products. You cannot slither your way out of this. 1/2 Update: In case you missed this, recently a patient of mine, to show gratitude for the complete remission of advanced stage liver cancer after I diagnosed him and expedited treatment for him in the UK, gifted me an iPAD 10th generation. I did not have any immediate need for this device and so asked people on Twitter for help regarding those who would benefit greatly from the donation. First of all, thank you to everyone who responded with many leads and multiple sources who would benefit from an iPAD. This included orphanages, schools, individual children and students and not-for-profit organizations. I am sorry I could not cater to everyone since it was just one device. Finally, after much deliberation and vetting from my team, we decided to donate the iPAD to @BansaLibrary. Bansa Community Library is the second library in the ‘Rural Library Movement’– an initiative to set up and sustain community-run libraries in the villages of India. The Bansa Community Library believes all people, especially children, should have access to books. They are a low-cost, people’s initiative without established funding and is dependent on kindness of strangers. They are committed to the work of building the movement for a publicly owned, free library system that is accessible to all. After more than a week long journey via ground transport (because the village was not accessible through other means), the gift reached its destination - within the innards of rural Uttar Pradesh.
