@ShaziGoalie The actual benefit is a smoother border crossing for both sides. While yes the new deal is worse than the one negotiated before, Canada still has the main upside that the bridge exist and is open now.

@zac2806 The best single player game*, with Doom 2016. Eternal was very meh story wise, and Dark Ages is a parry simulator, not an FPS. Id is not what it was before.

@LegacyKillaHD Obsidian feels like Bethesda said "no, we're too busy making TES6" and Xbox was like "Okay, we'll give the IP to someone else then" and picked Obsidian because they are the only other studio with a track record of making RPGs. The Obsidian of 14 years ago is long gone.

@SynthPotato Eternal wasn't very good either. Id's downfall was from 2017. Also, with the news that Id pitched 2 original games and a reboot of a forgotten game, and no new Doom, it makes sense. Xbox is pivoting hard into existing IPs to remove risks, and Id was probably not willing to follow

@hurc_hv "Why make engine when UE5 exist" pretty much. Successes like E33 using UE5 proves that it's a good engine, and if you have a good engine available that you can just license, developping something in house for a lot of money makes a lot less sense.

@naranciagaming "If everyone is senior, no one is". A studio should not have 20 leads, 30 principal and 80 seniors people at 200 employees. That's just wage inflation, which in turns translate to higher budgets and higher expectations.

@leiflaw @vicious696 FO76 was a mistake. I'm glad that it got salvaged as good as it did, but most people simply wanted a co-op standalone Fallout game, not another live service that felt extremely rushed. As for the show being kept a secret from everyone at Bethesda, that's a company issue 100%

@JustMyOpinions4 Because the only feasible way is to phase it out over the course of 80+ years, and the incentives at every level of governement are programs that run 1-10 years MAX. It's too long term of a goal to ever receive any attention.

@ProudBavaria The worst thing is, they haven't even started working on Fallout 5, and only entered actual production of TES6 in late 2024 after finishing Starfield's only DLC. They betted everything on Starfield to be a new IP and future of the studio and it blew up in their face.

@Phant0mSl0th The IPs are worth so little it wasn't a question. Double Fine and Compulsion made flop after flop those last few years, it was a no-brainer to try to get good PR from what is essentially a studio closure, since neither of those studios will be able to exist without a publisher.
