𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐃𝐎𝐆𝐒 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has charged two men for abandoning 23 dogs roadside in St. Augustine, following a multi-agency investigation. The case began on May 4, 2026, when SJSO deputies responded to the intersection of US-1 and County Road 204 where the dogs were discovered. SJSO Property Crimes detectives determined Austin Moore (32) took 23 dogs from his mother's Palm Coast home and traveled to St. Johns County, while Anthony Dunham (23) followed in another vehicle. Moore and Dunham intentionally released and abandoned the dogs on the side of the road, which resulted in the death of three dogs. The other twenty dogs were recovered and transported to local animal hospitals for treatment. Once SJSO Intelligence Analysts identified a suspect vehicle, the information lead SJSO and @FlaglerSheriff detectives to a Palm Coast residence belonging to Carolyn Loveman (48) and the discovery of additional dogs. Loveman was arrested and charged by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office in May for one count of felony aggravated animal cruelty and 31 counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals. In total, 51 dogs were removed from the residence for a combined total of 74 dogs recovered across both county investigations. "𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘵. 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐏𝐀𝐘 $𝟏 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐈𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐔𝐏𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐓 𝐈𝐍 𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐀𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 During a hearing this morning, St. Johns County defendant Spencer Calvert pleaded guilty as charged to all 45 felony counts. • Organized Scheme to Defraud more than $50,000 • 15 counts of Grand Theft more than $100,000 • Grand Theft • Misappropriation of Construction Funds $100,000 or more • 26 counts of Misappropriation of Construction Funds $1,000 to $100,000 • Misappropriation of Construction Funds less than $1,000 The negotiated plea agreement includes an order requiring Calvert to pay $8,722,659.05 in restitution. At the time of the sentencing, the defendant will pay $1 million, which will be distributed among the victims based on their percentage loss of the total loss. Calvert also faces a sentence ranging from zero to five years in prison. Any term of incarceration will be followed by 30 years of probation, with the possibility of early termination if restitution is paid in full. A minimum monthly payment will be established at sentencing. Other terms include: • Agreement that if any proceeds from remaining lots owned by Calvert/Pineapple Corporation are recovered, the proceeds are to go to restitution in this matter. • Agreement to execute default judgments in the civil cases to enable the victims to claim portions of the Florida Homeowners’ Construction Recovery Fund. Between 2019 and 2023, several projects in the Vista at Twenty Mile neighborhood in Nocatee were abandoned by custom homebuilder Pineapple Corporation. The homes were in various incomplete stages – some had roofs, others just had a foundation. The defendant, owner of Pineapple Corporation, misappropriated a total of $8,722,659.05 in deposited funds from the 15 victims who cooperated with the investigation. Investigators uncovered that Calvert would take upfront deposits from the victims to pay several subcontractors he hired to do work on their homes. However, he never paid them, which forced multiple subcontractors to take out liens against the victims’ property for labor, services, and materials. As a result of the defendant’s actions, the victims lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and were further burdened with paying off liens and hiring new contractors to finish construction on their homes. The case was investigated by @TeamSJSO and Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office investigators in a joint operation with assistance from @JSOPIO. Assistant State Attorneys Jennifer Lieb and Monica Smith successfully prosecuted the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Christopher Ferebee is hearing the case and is set to impose sentence on July 14, 2026.

On Monday night, SJSO deputies stopped a vehicle for traveling 112 mph in a posted 70-mph zone on Interstate 95. The driver was arrested for Dangerous Excessive Speeding and transported to the St. Johns County Jail. Under 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝘄 (𝗙𝗦𝗦 𝟯𝟭𝟲.𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟮), a violation occurs when a driver: > Exceeds the speed limit by 50+ mph > Drives 100+ mph or more in a manner that threatens the safety of other persons or property or interferes with the operation of any vehicle. Yes, Dangerous Excessive Speeding is a criminal offense and #TeamSJSO is holding offenders accountable: > 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚: Up to 30 days in jail, a fine of $500, or both >𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙨: Up to 90 days in jail, a fine of $1,000, or both A person convicted of two or more Dangerous Excessive Speeding violations within five years may have their driving privilege revoked for at least 180 days. Armando Lopez Cobo (23) is charged with Accessory After the Fact to Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm. On March 4, 2026, SJSO deputies responded to a shooting in a construction area near the intersection of Crimson Leaf Drive and Johns Island Parkway. Deputies identified three male victims. One male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased on scene. The suspect, Yovany Lopez Cobo (20), and passenger, Armando, fled the scene and were located by deputies driving westbound on SR206. Yovany was arrested for second-degree murder in the death of one victim and attempted second-degree murder [2 counts] in reference to two other victims struck by gunfire. Armando was not charged at the time of the shooting, but through further investigative efforts and review of evidence, detectives established probable cause and charged Armando with accessory after the fact. Armando is in custody at the St. Johns County Jail on $100,000 bond.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐅𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐔𝐃 Local contractor, Michael Trail (47) of M&M Cabinets of North Florida, Inc., has been arrested and charged with Grand Theft and Scheme to Defraud. In April 2026, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office contacted the SJSO Property Crimes Unit with information about a grand theft and scheme to defraud case involving victims in St. Johns County. SJSO detectives determined Trail was hired by the victims in 2025 to build and install custom cabinetry in their St. Johns County home. Trail estimated the project would take about three weeks and the victims paid a deposit of $12,256.00. After receiving the deposit, Trail failed to complete the work and offered numerous excuses for the delays. Several weeks passed and Trail requested an additional $6,500.00 to complete the project. The victims complied, but despite the additional payment, Trail did not complete the work. The victims paid a total of $18,756.00 and were left without completed cabinetry, including missing doors, drawer fronts, shelving, trim, crown molding, hardware, finish work, and other promised items. Detectives also reviewed prior law enforcement reports involving Trail and spoke to other complainants, some not located in St. Johns County, who hired him. While some complainants received most of the work they paid for, all described similar patterns of paying large deposits, numerous delays and completion dates, and in some cases were asked for additional money while projects remained unfinished. Based on the investigation, Trail knowingly obtained $18,756.00 from the victims in St. Johns County, claiming he would complete their project but failed to do so and accepted the funds. Trail was located on June 24 by the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office and arrested. On May 31, 2026, SJSO deputies responded to a residence on Alta Street in St. Augustine in reference to a report of child abuse. The complainant received an Instacart delivery of groceries, and upon review of the Ring doorbell camera, observed a violent interaction between the Instacart employee and an accompanying child during the delivery. Deputies analyzed the video and identified the Instacart employee as Kiah Lowery and the victim as her child. The video shows the child struggling with holding a basket of groceries, and Lowery appearing frustrated, verbally scolding the child. When the child is unable to carry the basket, Lowery orders the child to carry a 24-pack of bottled water instead. The child voiced the struggle with the weight of the item and dropped the case of water bottles. This action caused Lowery to become angry and strike the child in the face. Based on the investigation conducted by the SJSO Special Victims Unit, Florida Department of Children and Families, and @SAO7FL, Lowery was arrested and transported to the St. Johns County Jail. Post Lowery’s release, she is ordered to have no contact with the child.

𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐒𝐓. 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐈𝐍𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐄 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐉𝐀𝐈𝐋 On June 3, 2026, SJSO Corrections Detectives filed new charges on two current inmates in the St. Johns County Detention Center. With the assistance of the State Attorney’s Office, the two inmates were officially arrested for the new charges below on June 22, 2026. Joseph Silcott (20) was charged with Aggravated Assault in County Jail or Detention Facility, False Imprisonment, Attempted Escape, Conspiracy to Commit Escape, Criminal Mischief ($1,000 or more), Possession of Contraband for Escape in County Detention Facility (five counts) and Attempt to Introduce Contraband into a County Detention Facility (three counts). Joseph Izzi (38) was charged with Attempted Escape, Conspiracy to Commit Escape, Possession of Contraband for Escape in County Detention Facility (two counts), Criminal Mischief ($1,000 or more), Tampering with Physical Evidence and False Information to Law Enforcement. Both inmates were housed in the same cell on multiple felony charges prior to this incident. Silcott was previously arrested on the following charges: Robbery with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Resisting. Izzi was previously arrested for multiple felonies including Human Trafficking and Child Sex Crimes. Neither Silcott nor Izzi had a bond. The new charges unfolded after the two inmates were placed in the same cell. On May 16, 2026, inmate (Izzi) informed staff his cell mate (Silcott) was in possession of a weapon and threatened him with it. The inmates were separated, questioned about the incident, and a search was conducted in the cell. The search yielded numerous metal objects, two of which had a sharpened edge and could be used as weapons. It also revealed damage to the sink and toilet, which are normally attached to the wall, and the cell window was broken out with a clear opening to the outdoors. An investigation began which ultimately revealed both inmates were involved in plotting an escape and were actively working on executing the plan within their cell. The two inmates planned to create a hole in the wall of their cell as an exit route after they broke the toilet and sink apparatus from the wall. The inmates broke the glass window out from the sill and flushed the evidence piece by piece. The outer plastic window, which is used to obstruct exterior visibility, was still intact but broken on one end. Their strategy was to obtain more contraband using the open window via drone. Silcott requested a sawblade, a finger phone and narcotics to be flown through the window during a recorded phone call. The inmates planned to use the saw blade to finish creating an exit. After finding the evidence and learning about the escape plan, detectives reviewed camera footage, phone calls, and interviewed witnesses in that cell block. Sworn statements were collected and photos were taken of all evidence and damage within the cell. The following facts were found during the investigation: - Six (6) metal objects were located in the cell. The metal objects were broken off the window sill that held the window in place as well as removed from a mop bucket. - The sink/toilet apparatus was damaged and removed from the wall and the inmates used toilet paper, soap and toothpaste to create a caulking substance to conceal their plan of escape. - Camera footage showed both inmates actively involved in damaging the toilet and breaking the window. It also captured them sweeping up and flushing the glass. - Both inmates were seen in possession of weapons and escape tools on different dates and times. - Witnesses gave sworn statements stating both inmates had an escape plan and weapons in their cell. - Izzi ultimately gave a full post-Miranda confession regarding both Silcott’s and his actions, plans and specific details about the contraband drop via drone. - SJSO Inmate Communications located evidence on Silcott’s recorded phone call requesting contraband be delivered via drone to further their progress on the escape plan. Additional evidence and statements revealed that Silcott and Izzi’s partnership soured after Silcott gained knowledge of Izzi’s Human Trafficking and Child Sex Crimes charges. Silcott threatened Izzi with a homemade edged weapon and told him to remain in his bunk and stole several of his canteen items. This incident prompted Izzi to come forward regarding the weapons in fear of Silcott, which led to a cell search, ultimately exposing the premeditated escape plan. SJSO detectives worked with the State Attorney’s Office and charged Joseph Silcott and Joseph Izzi today with the above charges. There is an active investigation regarding the outside accomplice(s) involved with this case, and no further information will be released at this time. “𝘈𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺. 𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘵. 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘺,” 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘧 𝘙𝘰𝘣 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘬. No further information will be released at this time.
