For humans who don't understand : In an era of material abundance (industrial productivity, automation, generative AI, plummeting production costs), ordinary goods become abundant, cheap, and interchangeable. Their ability to signal social status collapses. Differentiation consequently shifts toward what remains truly scarce, authentic, unique, or imbued with history and cultural narrative: iconic objects. This is precisely the logic behind the idea that iconic assets could become one of the top-performing asset classes over the coming decades. It is not merely a matter of "collecting" or passion: it is a statutory repricing. In a world where almost everything can be reproduced or generated at low cost, authenticity, absolute scarcity, narrative depth, and cultural capital become the true signals of distinction and, potentially, value preservation. Nuances exist, of course: part of this status may shift toward experiences, exclusive access, social capital, or even certain rare digital assets. The supply of some luxury goods can also be artificially controlled by brands. However, for truly iconic, non-reproducible objects (historical art, unique or near-unique pieces, tangible cultural heritage), the dynamics of relative abundance strengthen their appeal rather than weaken it. Material abundance does not devalue everything. It reprices what remains scarce and symbolic. Iconic ETF’s & funds are coming and will contribute to prices increases.
