In Canadian military slang during World War II, "The Plugs" referred to the Princess Louise Dragoon Guards (PLDG), an armored car regiment that served as part of the 1st Canadian Corps in Italy. My father was part of this unit . As a young boy we often sat quietly at the kitchen table on a Saturday night, and after a rum and coke, dad would begin to reminisce about the war. I’m as proud of him today as I was then. But I’m not proud of this prime minister who seems to becomes indigent when in the presence of someone else who has the spotlight…..even for a second. And last night’s display of disrespect at the Oilers’ game has cast him in the worst possible light.
Israeli hero aboard nearly-hijacked FlyDubai flight FZ 1073: Yaniv Hayoun Hayoun has no background in security. But when he realized there was an attempted hijacking, he knew he had to do something. He ran to the cockpit and physically fought with the co-pilot, who had stabbed the pilot and was attempting to crash the plane. Hayoun put the co-pilot in a chokehold and dragged. him out of the cockpit. Others came over to help restrain him. Hayoun then went back into the cockpit and pulled back on the yoke to pull the plane out of its nosedive. The plane had dropped 17,000+ feet in under two minutes. An off-duty pilot then entered the cockpit and took over the controls, and Haroun went back out to help guard the co-pilot.

Today we are incredibly grateful for the courage and quick action by pilot Cpt. Smit Machchhar who was stabbed by his copilot on FZ1073, yet still managed to open the cockpit door and call for help before collapsing.
