Those Seeking to be Addressed as “His Excellency” Must Behave Excellently Yesterday, I joined other presidential candidates to sign the first National Peace Accord for the 2027 Presidential Elections. My signing of the accord is a reinforcement of my continued commitment to insisting that we, as candidates, must conduct ourselves in a way that reflects the office we aspire to. Leaders must eschew all forms of violent rhetoric and rein in their followers to do the same. The next elections must be strictly based on the issues that matter to Nigerians: unity, insecurity, pulling people out of poverty, reducing the number of out-of-school children, and restoring hope to the long-suffering people of our country. Our supporters must see that we have all committed to free, fair, and credible elections based on issues and devoid of rancour. Those of us wishing to be addressed as “His Excellency” must behave excellently, and, more importantly, the process of attaining public office must be excellent. We take very seriously the commitment of INEC to free, fair, and credible elections, as well as the pledge by law enforcement agencies to remain unbiased throughout the electioneering process. I call on my supporters to remain firm, determined, and peaceful. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Call for help. My mum was hit with a stroke in may 2024. Since then our lives haven't remained the same. My family have spent all our savings yet her condition hasn't changed. She has severe BP challenge, she has diabetes. Which has gone on to take a toll on her kidneys.

A 17-year-old Daniel Akanni is appealing for financial assistance worth N2m to undergo the amputation of his left leg and be fitted with an artificial limb. Akanni was born with a leg deformity. He underwent corrective surgery at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, at 18 months old, which enabled him to walk, though he was left with a limp because the corrected leg was shorter than the other.

FAILURE TO PROSECUTE SENATOR FRANCIS FADAHUNSI FOR CALLING FOR A BLOOD BATH AGAINST ACCORD PARTY SUPPORTERS IS OFFICIAL ENDORSEMENT OF ANARCHY The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, in a viral video circulating online, called for the killing of Accord Party members in Osun State during Saturday’s gubernatorial election. The statement made by the Senator in the viral video is highly unfortunate, condemnable, reckless and irresponsible, especially at a time when the political atmosphere in the state is already tense. The Senator's incendiary statement has heightened the already tense political atmosphere in the state, which may lead to a breakdown of law and order and negatively affect voter turnout in the forthcoming election. The subsequent explanation by the Senator, in a bid to defend himself by stating that he meant killing the Accord Party members through votes, is pedestrian, childish and feeble. Furthermore, the statement by the Senator is capable of negatively affecting the integrity of the electoral process, inciting supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against supporters of the Accord Party and other political parties, and also scaring voters away from exercising their constitutional and civic rights to elect candidates of their choice in the forthcoming election. I am aware that the Criminal Investigation Department of the Osun State Police Command invited the Senator for questioning and subsequently released him. This shows that the Osun State Police Command has already taken sides and appears unwilling to take further action against the Senator. It is on this note that I call on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to immediately arraign the Senator in a court of competent jurisdiction, in order to demonstrate to Nigerians that his commitment to securing the electoral process in Osun and ensuring a free and fair election is not empty. The prosecution of the Senator will equally demonstrate to Nigerians that he is non-partisan and impartial, having arrested members of the Accord Party and ferried them to Abuja on yet-to-be-substantiated allegations of violence. Failure to prosecute Senator Fadahunsi in accordance with the law will be interpreted by well-meaning Nigerians as an official endorsement of anarchy and a dangerous signal that certain individuals are above the law. Such inaction will not only undermine public confidence in the impartiality and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force, but may also embolden political actors and their supporters to resort to threats, intimidation and violence as tools of political engagement. As a high-ranking lawmaker representing the people in the National Assembly, Senator Fadahunsi carries a solemn constitutional and moral responsibility to promote peace, uphold democratic norms, and foster unity. It is therefore alarming and unacceptable that a distinguished senator would deploy intimidation, incendiary remarks, or political threats capable of heightening tensions, instilling fear in voters, and potentially inciting electoral violence in Osun State. Elections are meant to be a celebration of democratic franchise - a peaceful exercise through which citizens freely choose their leaders without intimidation, harassment, or coercion. Resorting to threats of force or disruption undermines the integrity of our electoral process, disrespects the electorate, and threatens the fragile peace of the state. I therefore respectfully demand that Senator Fadahunsi retract these harmful statements and tender an apology to the peaceful people of Osun State. All political leaders, stakeholders, and party loyalists across party lines must exercise the utmost restraint, moderate their language, and recommit themselves to peace and democratic decorum. The relevant security agencies must closely monitor inflammatory statements and ensure equal protection for all citizens, election officials, and voters before, during, and after the polls. The democratic mandate belongs to the people, and no individual, regardless of status or political office, should attempt to subvert the will of the people through fear or coercion. I urge the good people of Osun State to remain calm, peaceful, and resolute as they exercise their constitutional civic duty at the polls. Getting elections right is a necessary step towards a New Nigeria that is POssible. -PO

By Making Excuses for Unverified Certificates, We Are Planting Poison in the Soul of Our Society A nation that tolerates unverified academic credentials at any level of leadership, regardless of who is involved, risks destroying the very standards upon which a society is built. The issue is not about an individual. It is about standards, accountability, and the values we choose to pass on to the next generation. We cannot continue to excuse blurred, missing, questionable, or unverified credentials simply because they belong to someone we support. The process through which people attain positions of responsibility matters greatly. How we get into leadership is as important as what we do with leadership. If we normalise the abandonment of basic verification today, tomorrow we may have professors who never attended a university, doctors who never studied medicine, and judges who never studied law. That is the dangerous precedent we must never allow. Nigeria cannot sacrifice its future on the altar of today's transactional politics. We must build a society where truth is not partisan, standards are not negotiable, and accountability applies equally to everyone. History will judge us not only by those we defended, but by the principles we were willing to defend. We must choose truth over convenience, standards over sentiments, and the future over political expediency. A New Nigeria is possible, but only if we are willing to do the right thing, even when it is inconvenient. -PO

All of Bola’s career has been shrouded by what I now call the mystery of performance and, my god, isn’t he the don of narratives? He slaps a word (reform, in this case) on the head so many times that you begin to think it’s true. His gubernatorial career is technically lauded for building Lagos, but thanks to documentation, we now know that barely any noticeable changes happened in Lagos throughout his terms. Bola is not reforming Nigeria. Bola is looting Nigeria dry, he’s borrowing against our poverty, he’s servicing debt with the little we are earning, he’s running 3 concurrent budgets, he is not transparent with our we spend (daily transaction has been down for months), he is blackmailing politicians, he is watching children die, he is overseeing a Nigeria ridden by drugs, companies are packing up, the national % is high, we have never been this poor, he is stiffening the opposition, he is running Nigeria as a favor to friends and associates, and this one, Zach, is using national funds to support campaigns.
