On this Table: Denmark_BA 52% Steppe Denmark_IA 49% Steppe What happened? Jastorf?

Supplementary Tables, Gretzinger 2024, Steppe numbers of a few ancient groups. Franks are the uppermost. There is direct continuity from the Middle Bronze Age Lech population to later Celts, but Austria LaTene has 2% more Steppe than Lech MBA.

For comparison: The two averages of the Únětice culture get 55% Steppe on the same Table. Weak G25 models sometimes give the Únětice culture 65% Steppe, which is of course ridiculous.

BRAVEHEART, which remains Gibson's best film, is really a tale of "Normans vs. Anglo-Saxons", but this was adjusted to "Scotsmen versus Englishmen" for the benefit of the historically drowsy modern spectator. The original structure, however, peeps through the disguise: the king's French wife & her relationship with "William Wallace"; the nobleman's right of jus primæ noctis (itself a French custom imposed on the Anglo-Saxons, not an English custom imposed on the Scots); & innumerable other details cleverly inserted to inform the educated viewer that the obvious "historical inaccuracies" in the film are a deliberate alteration designed for contemporary convenience.

@keltyse I would never use Sweden_BA for models for Continentals anyways, but the PCA is not from me, i just have it from the Celtic elites paper. Idk if low coverage changes PCA position since it matches with the Germanic language paper's main claim

@keltyse No, it's not. Look at Denmark_BA and then look at Scandinavia_IA and Häven. Scandinavia_IA and Häven are clearly Germanic, because they are right next to Sweden_BA, but Denmark_BA does not have this WHG input yet. Who named your samples Jastorf? They are not.

@ryan_sikola I see three options: A Swedish migration lowered the Danish Steppe, a Jastorf migration lowered it, or it lowered because of local resurgence. The difference isnt insane, so it could just be a local thing. A Swedish migration is Fact tho, but what we see on the Tables is younger

@ryan_sikola Jastorf is not Celtic. I would not call all groups that are not Unetice tier Steppe levels automatically "Celtic" because very old samples from Sweden are also not on these high levels
