Tensor networks that solve billion-site super-moiré lattices Stacking and slightly twisting atomically thin materials has opened a new way to engineer quantum matter. When two 2D layers are misaligned, their atomic grids interfere and create a larger “moiré” pattern, which reshapes how electrons move and interact. These engineered patterns have already revealed unusual superconductors, correlated insulators, and topological phases. But there’s a catch: even a single moiré pattern can correspond to a unit cell with tens of thousands of atoms. When several moiré patterns coexist to form a super-moiré structure, the effective system can reach millions or even billions of sites—far beyond what standard real-space simulations can store or diagonalize, even in sparse-matrix form. Yitao Sun and coauthors introduce a self-consistent tensor network framework that can handle interacting super-moiré systems with up to one billion sites. The key idea is to completely avoid storing the Hamiltonian as a huge matrix: instead, they encode it as a matrix product operator (MPO) acting on a pseudospin chain, and compute observables via a Chebyshev kernel polynomial method implemented directly in the tensor network. Spatially varying hoppings, Hubbard interactions, and even domain walls are all represented as compact tensor networks, constructed efficiently using quantics tensor cross-interpolation rather than brute-force enumeration of all matrix elements. On top of that, they run a self-consistent mean-field loop entirely in MPO form, accessing local spectral functions, magnetization patterns, and symmetry-broken states in 1D and 2D super-moiré systems: modulated Hubbard chains, graphene-like lattices with domain walls, and even quasicrystalline patterns with approximate eightfold symmetry. For the one-dimensional case, the computational cost scales roughly logarithmically with system size at fixed bond dimension and polynomial order—a dramatic improvement over traditional real-space approaches—and, crucially, the memory requirements stay manageable even when the single-particle Hamiltonian would be far too large to store explicitly. Beyond the specific examples, this work is a template for tackling ultra-large correlated systems by combining real-space models with tensor network compression. It brings the “billion-site limit” of super-moiré quantum matter into reach, and creates a bridge between the tensor network machinery developed for many-body physics, emerging moiré platforms, and future extensions towards real-space DFT and time-dependent simulations. Demonstration of Eddy currents in relation to a regularly placed axial magnet with the poles out at the side like: N====S A standard magnet has a Bloch Wall or a flat dividing line between North and South Pole. Right in the middle at the equator. Like this: N==|==S When that flat Bloch Wall is placed near the eddy currents developed by the rotating copper... the magnet will levitate. But it will not spin. If you flip the orientation of the magnet 90˚ sideways like this: N II — II S Then the magnet will flip end over end like a pinwheel, but it will slap the surface of the rotating copper with friction before flying off. But by simulating a wave and having the magnet like this: N==/==S the magnet will levitate AND spin. While producing a varying field at a particular frequency. Wobbling the Bloch Wall as it rotates. As the roller levitates and spins, you can tap power from the relative motion of that waving gradient of magnetic fields. But that is just an example of a magnetic bearing effect with a conventional magnet. But still shows that unless there is an added variation, you won't get a magnetic bearing effect like the Mag Lev train. Professor John Searl discovered a way to impress different frequencies and signatures into a magnetic field which produces actual waveforms while in rotation. Electrons follow magnetic fields. By impressing magnetic waveforms into the fields, it facilitates electron flow in a wave-like manner. At a particular frequency according to a given load. The waves repeat and resonate with electrons like a tuning fork while in conjunction with the rare-earth lanthanide, a dielectric material and the OFHC copper to emit the charges/currents. Everyone in the world needs to pour liquid nitrogen on their magnets and superconductors to yield the Meissner Effect and flux pinning. But this technology uses programmed magnetic fields in tandem with eddy currents to produce frictionless magnetic bearings. The industry views eddy currents as a menace and tries to negate and cancel them as much as possible. But here we use it to Assist the system rather than resist like normal. The rollers accelerate up to an idle speed due to the eddy currents. The magnets want to push away from the copper... yet they want to attract to the stator ring at the same time. My colleague Fernando Morris demonstrated that indeed waveforms, glitches and variations can be imprinted onto magnetic materials. The material seems to "remember" the glitches. The magnet is made in a uniform fashion which SHOULD result in a uniform field... but the field Is Not uniform. There is not much literature in the scientific world to explain why this happens. It shouldn't happen, but it does. And we can plainly see the results on the scopes. John Searl discovered this phenomenon and honed in on it like a tuning fork. Fernando built a unit to test it out as seen in the attached image. The images come from one of the larger presentations I gave with live demonstrations. Remember now...
