People will use these delays and problems to argue that MARTA is using money unwisely and therefore shouldn't have more funding. Nope. Many problems are likely influenced by the fact that MARTA is the largest U.S. transit system to get zero state funds for operations.

It's concerning that MARTA *hopes* to have all fare gates installed by September. The rollout of the new gates has been frustrating, particularly with glass doors breaking & being stuck open. Nonetheless, don't let that detract from the fact that *MARTA needs more funding*.

This is a good point! MARTA Stations in the middle of the city should be surrounded by blocks of high residential density (with affordability components) & pedestrian-focused streets. Give more people the opportunity to live in walkable, transit-rich places!

MARTA Arts Center should 2x the amount of residential units. While unclear, seems office heavy. Atlanta needs more voters & regional influence. Adding residents is essential- while also bolstering availability to support local nearby businesses. (AI is great for concepts, IMO)

Atlanta DOT Howell Mill sidewalk and bike lane construction north of the Trabert Ave future Beltline crossing up to the bridge over the rail line is nearly complete on the east side. The extension on to the bridge may be more complicated.

It's a little odd that MARTA would announce this today. According to the AJC article, as recently as this Tuesday, the new trains didn't appear to be cleared for usage. "No trains have been accepted yet, MARTA spokesperson Stephany Fisher said Tuesday." ajc.com/news/2026/05/i…
