One thing worth seeing at Hereford Cathedral yesterday was the Chained Library and Mappa Mundi exhibition. The map is one of the largest surviving medieval maps and quite something to see in person, as well as the library. (1)

One of the oldest records in our collections: a charter of King Malcolm IV, circa 1161. Charters were legal documents that granted or transferred rights, titles and lands. This one is dated at “Castellum Puellarum”: “the Maidens' Castle”, an early name for Edinburgh Castle.
