Writers and ex-Muslims have said it clearly. @DanBurmawy calls the burka a “mobile prison cell.” @patcondell has described it as “a dehumanizing shroud that erases women from public life.” And @YasMohammedxx, who escaped forced veiling, wrote: “When you cover a woman’s face, you erase her humanity. And when men cannot see women as human beings, they permit themselves to do the worst things to them.” The niqab cannot be whitewashed as “culture” or “choice.” It is a patriarchal invention, enforced by intimidation and violence, that reduces women to walking ghosts. A society that hides its women’s faces is not protecting them - it is silencing them. Women deserve to be seen, heard, and treated as equals. Until then, the niqab will remain not a sign of modesty, but of misogyny, and must be banned in western countries.
