In return for high prices paid to generators, consumers were promised generators would take on the risk of making new investment and keep the grid reliable. That hasn't happened. Generators have made profits and are lobbying to be paid even more. Let's not be fooled again.
This feels like a shake down by electric generators in Texas. For two decades, cheap to generate electricity has been paid handsomely in ERCOT's wholesale market, which uses marginal pricing. The result has been higher prices for consumers, no matter which retailer they choose.
Gosh, it's painful to listen to Texas utility regulators anguish over what it'll take to make the electric grid reliable. Spoiler alert, what they are coalescing around is complicated, untested and costly for consumers. #txlege Live here - adminmonitor.com/tx/puct/open_m…
