Most of these are the reasons why I haven't gotten hooked haha My take: 1. Classes and true CSS variables absolutely slap. More complex than a design tool, yes. But more rewarding since these are transferable skills as opposed to platform specific. 2. Workshop is really really cool and I hope @webflow is working on a similar add-on. Not too concerned though since AI coding tools are a dime a dozen nowadays. And Webflow will accept any code you throw at it, as long as you know how to implement it. 3. Love the free canvas and vector tools. Though I heavily prefer keeping my design and dev tools separate and specialized, tbh. 4. This sounds like a skill issue. You can use any method, code, or framework you like to create brilliant animations. People like @iljavaneck and @eduardbodak can attest to that. Granted, the native interactions builder is sorely outdated, though not for long since they're soon releasing a native GSAP animation engine with a horizontal timeline UI. But even then, ask @josephberry88 and I truly think there isn't something he can't figure out how to implement in IX2. Same thing for components. The system is very robust, if you know how to leverage it. I'd argue I feel more control in Webflow since it's all based on real (clean) code. Layout templates? HTMX/Alpine.js/Barba.js/Swuup/etc will get you there. And again, these are transferable skills you can take with you anywhere. Design systems... That's a hard disagree for me. The closer you are to the code, the more "real" your design system is. Classes, variables, and attributes are a HUGE part of this. 5. All in all, I 100% understand the appeal with Framer. It abstracts complexity away and protects you from having to learn or look at code (although I'm not denying that it can be very powerful if you know code and/or use Framer as a learning aid. But most people don't.). I don't particularly like comparing the two. They feel like very different tools for very different audiences. Framer is a website builder for designers. Webflow is a visual code editor for developers and since recent updates, a fantastic site builder for marketers that don't want to think about design or code. The CMS is much more robust too, not to mention localization, analytics, native A/B testing (with an AI that will use your design system to create layout and copy variants and automatically deploy them to the appropriate locales, validate them and report on their performance... I could go on.) They're wildly different tools. I don't doubt that there's a place for both. They excel at different things. I just haven't found where Framer shines for me beyond making it easy to create beautiful web stuff.
