We’re just about to be part of Apple’s biggest event of the year and that is #WWDC23 👓🚀 developer event and I have a big gut feeling that Apple will be entering the XR field this year. This is not only gut feeling but it has a lot to do with information shared online through various media outlets about what we should expect from this device. 📣 I love to share with you today along with development & designer tools I believe will be widely used for Apple XR going forward. But, first let’s take a look at a couple of possible hardware specs? 📌 Apple XR could have two displays inside with a 4K display resolution per eye and to put this in perspective Meta Quest Pro & Meta Quest 2 currently offers 1920x1800 per eye. 📌 Apple XR headset could have a curved glass cover, an aluminum frame, and carbon fiber reinforcement and like the Apple Watch's digital crown, will allow you to transition between virtual and mixed reality. 📌 A Front facing display which is supposed to show your eyes to others while you’re wearing this device, which I find very very weird to be honest and hopefully doesn’t make it to market. 📌 M2 processors may also be making an entrance with Apple XR headset, and I wouldn’t be too surprised since my personal MacBook Pro M2 Pro chip delivers outstanding battery life (from 15 to 22 hours), the speed in insane while editing with adobe premiere, and it barely generates heat in comparison to what my Intel MacBook Pro used to do, specially when I would place it on my lap. 📌 A bunch of sensors for spatial awareness (plane detection, point clouds, meshing / LiDAR, hand tracking, and eye tracking technology) and yes I am sure this device just like HoloLens 2 today won’t have controllers, also HoloLens 2 today can be unlocked by using your eyes retina instead of having to type a pass code which is also an option but no mandatory. 📌 As for the OS: realityOS or xrOS is also suppose to be the new OS and there are also many reports showing this, I was able to find proof on GitHub of realityOS in source code created by apple github.com/search?q=+org%… and other developers adding support to realityOS and realityOS Simulator and github.com/remobjects/HI2 so knowing this reinforces my belief that Apple is planning to release soon. Funny enough these commits all happened within the same date range in March 2023. 📌 Price is suppose to be very high, I hate to say how much because is not final until Apple announces the release, but to put this in perspective, ML2 is a powerful enterprise device retailing at $3,711 USD for the regular edition and $4,576 USD for the developer pro edition, HoloLens 2 is about $3500, so Apple XR could possibly be around the same price point or perhaps a bit less to be competitive. #VR #AR #XR 🧵👇

Arguably negative reactions to Apple's announcement are a strong signal that the device is going to be a hit. An uninspired presentation would result in people keeping quiet. Strong negative reactions indicate that previously held world-views re: AR/VR are being challenged
