Managed to make a Conway's Game of Life shader on #p5js while following a @shiffman's stream A couple of touches like painting revived cells a different color and slowly fading out the previous frame somehow resulted on fireworks 🎆 Check it out here: editor.p5js.org/Trin-o/full/5e…

@MindsEyeGames the only thing I could think for your situation (if you're working with only 1 light source) would be to detect if you're inside a collider and change that collider's layer to one not included in your light's layer mask 💦

@MindsEyeGames on top of this, this optimization step grabs all colliders and turns them into a list of individual "edges", so there's no real concept of inside/outside

@FreyaHolmer this is basically why I hid my 2D light asset's code behind a dll the logic itself is easy enough to figure out if you just google it, but the hoops and loops one has to go to make a custom renderer work in play AND edit mode are 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖑

needs a bit more work on the timing, but this would basically be the intro/outro moving everything with mechanical claws should make level transitions much simpler for the camera AND let's me drive home the testing facility theme I'm going for 👌 #indiedev #gamedev #unity3d
