We wrap up #NoMowMay with interesting findings. Three of nine ratings noted more flowers in the unmowed treatment, otherwise they were quite similar. This backs up our suggestion of planting flowers to support pollinators - leaving a lawn unmowed does not create instant flowers

Flowering dandelions in mowed and unmowed plots in our #NoMowMay experiment. Some flower heads were cut off by mowing, resulting in a lower number of flowers on May 5. However, the number of flowers was not statistically different between treatments five days later. Stay tuned!

Instead of #NoMowMay, we suggest mowing the grass to keep it healthy. To support our native pollinators year-round, you can plant flowers, shrubs, and trees that will flower throughout the season and create an undisturbed area in your yard for pollinators to nest.

#NoMowMay can increase the number of dandelions, but @NCC_CNC agrees that this is "junk food" for our native insects. We both recommend planting native flowering species in gardens, or adding mowing-tolerant species to your lawn, as OPPOSED to letting the grass grow long.

Hey @sprayfrank & @thesprayman, I built this beauty with 16 mesh brass strainers and 8004VS nozzles but 1 nozzle seams to always get blocked. What nozzles do you recommend? TIA
