The press conference and rally is to support Sophie Cunningham (@sophaller) who has made remarks to the media that men should not play in women’s sports or be in women’s locker rooms. “Texans wanted to keep the ball rolling in supporting Sophie Cunningham and her stance on women’s sports. What better place than Texas, which has passed two laws to protect female athletes and one major law to protect privacy, to rally in support of Sophie. Sophie is right. On Monday, the ACLU filed a request asking the U. S. Supreme Court to review the Fifth Circuit’s decision which previously ruled in April of this year that the Texas Ten Commandments law is constitutional. “The Texas Ten Commandments Law is stronger than ever and we know the Supreme Court will rule for Texas on this case, just like the court of appeals. The ACLU now wants to tear down 10 Commandments posters statewide that are historically relevant to America’s founding. Victory! Today, a Harris County district court denied a request for a temporary restraining order seeking to block enforcement of Texas’ Ten Commandments law, S.B. 10, marking an important early victory against the latest legal challenge to the historic law. "Today is an important victory for Texas students, parents, and the rule of law. The plaintiffs asked a court to block a duly enacted Texas law and remove the Ten Commandments from classroom walls—and the court said no. Seeing something is not the same thing as being forced to believe it. Breaking: Texas @SenTedCruz just called me and we had a very productive conversation about this issue, after I and members of our @txvalues team reached out to him and his office. Senator @tedcruz told me he is 100% confident that the College Sports Act in no way jeopardizes the enforcement of state laws on the #SaveWomensSports issue. Senator Cruz also told me he plans to make a statement about this issue on the Senate floor when the bill is discussed, and he will ask for his comments to be recorded in the Senate Journal, in hopes that this will resolve any concerns that have been raised recently.
