Al-Mawardi clearly states that its not permissible for any ruler after the Prophet (ﷺ) to stipulate in their truce the return of a Muslim to Darul Kufr. He says it was permissible for the Prophet (ﷺ), because it was promised by Allah that the land would be conquered.

SubhanAllah... Today I met a brother whose story I don't think I'll ever forget. He was a muhajir from Saudi Arabia who came to Syria to help its people. Instead, he was captured by smugglers and handed over to the Assad regime, where he spent ten years in prison.

Shaykh Dhiyāb al-Ġāmidī wrote a book where he mentions the kufr of man-made laws in football. This book was praised by Shaykh Ibn Jibrīn and taught by Shaykh al-Barrāk Shaykh Sulaymān al-ʿAlwān and Ustadh ʿAbduraḥmān Ḥassan also mentioned something very similar.
Shaykh Dhiyab al-Ghamidi wrote a book on football where he mentions the kufr of laws opposing the shari’ah The book was reviewed and praised by Shaykh Ibn Jibrin and taught by Shaykh al-Barrak. Shaykh Sulayman al-'Alwan mentions the same, and so does Abdurahman Hassan.

Some scholars of hadith have weakened the narration, so long as one doesn’t believe the only manifestation of the ayah is major kufr (which the shaykh hafidhahullah doesnt) then there isnt an issue; you can differ in takhrij.
