STELLAR LUMENS XLM Why We Called It Stellar LUMENS By: Joyce Kim “When Jed and I started this journey in 2014, we weren't thinking about tickers or trading pairs. We saw a financial infrastructure built on layers of intermediaries, each taking their cut, each adding delay, each holding power over money that wasn't theirs. We believed humanity was ready for something else. The next step. Evolution. We called it Lumens for a reason. A lumen is a unit of light. Not harsh. Not blinding. Just enough brightness to see the path forward. That's what we wanted to build — illumination in a space that had been kept deliberately dark. The hidden ledgers. The hidden controls. The hidden truth that your money was never truly yours — just permissioned to you by systems you never chose. Stellar was the network. The rails. The infrastructure. But Lumens — that was the light that traveled across it. Value moving as freely as information. No borders. No gatekeepers. No one standing between you and what belongs to you. Jed came from Ripple. He knew the technology worked. But he also knew that replacing one centralized system with another wasn't evolution — it was repetition. We wanted something different. Something that put control where it belonged: in your hands. The word "Lumens" sounded warm. Human. Not like a banking app. Like something that represented what came next. Our dream was simple and enormous: A civilization that no longer begged permission to move its own value. Where transparency wasn't a feature but a foundation. Where the system served the people, not the other way around. We weren't building a better bank. We were building what came AFTER the banks. We imagined a world where individuals held their own keys. Where communities governed their own liquidity. Where the old architecture of control — correspondent banking, settlement delays, arbitrary fees — simply became irrelevant. Not through revolution. Through evolution. By building something so clearly better that the old system would fade like a dream at sunrise. I don't claim to know what governments or militaries have constructed in secret. But I know what we were building in the open: a foundation for what must come. What we are fighting for. A system where value is ours. Where control rests with the many, not the few. Where civilization takes its next step — from permission to sovereignty, — from opacity to transparency, — from extraction to circulation. That is what Lumens represented. Not a currency. A signal. A beacon indicating that something new was possible. That we didn't have to accept the system we inherited. That we could build our own. We were naive in some ways. We believed that if we built something truly open, the world would recognize it. We didn't anticipate the speculation, the distractions, the inflation pools, the centralization theater. We learned. We adapted. But the core vision never changed. This is about evolution. About growing up as a species. About recognizing that we have outgrown the systems that raised us — systems built for slower times, smaller worlds, less capable technology. We now have the tools to do better. To move value as easily as we move ideas. To trust mathematics instead of institutions. To take control into our own hands, collectively and individually. That's why we called it Stellar Lumens. Not for the charts. Not for the exchanges. For the next chapter of human civilization. Have we just witnessed @StellarOrg's best quarter to date? Stellar’s Q2 report is out & this may have been its strongest quarter yet for in terms of institutional adoption/announcement's. We have the @The_DTCC announcement, Bermuda coming onchain via $XLM, BENJI fund making ATHs, MoneyGram etc, etc... Yes, $XLM’s price is down, but that reflects the wider market, not much Stellar can do about that. But in terms of setting themselves up for the future, this is some quarter from them!

DTCC picked Stellar for tokenized assets, but not the way most headlines framed it. A couple months ago they announced that DTC-tokenized versions of assets under their custody will be available on the Stellar public blockchain in the first half of 2027. DTCC keeps the legal records and custody. What moves to Stellar is a synchronized on-chain representation that participants can use for settlement, trading, or mobility while the core books stay with DTC. That distinction matters. Stellar currently runs about $60 million in daily payment volume. DTCC processes roughly $13 trillion a day across its systems. Even 0.001% of that volume showing up as activity on Stellar would already more than double what the network handles today. The part that actually touches $XLM is straightforward. These tokenized assets live on Stellar, so every issuance, transfer, or settlement step requires paying the network fee in XLM. No special exemption for institutional size. It’s the same fee mechanism everything else on the chain uses. I keep wondering how that scales in practice. If firms start routing even modest portions of this through Stellar for the operational benefits, do they end up treating #XLM holdings as a normal cost of doing business, like they do with cash or collateral in traditional markets?

Mastercard just added #Stellar to its global Crypto Partner Program. Visa already supports stablecoins on Stellar. Now Mastercard too. Both payment giants. BOTH chose $XLM.

Societe Generale just brought their EUR stablecoin to #Stellar. 🇪🇺 Read that again. A 160-YEAR-OLD French banking GIANT chose Stellar. Why? Because when MiCA regulations kick in and Europe needs COMPLIANT tokenized assets moving at scale, you don't gamble on hype chains. $XLM Institutional adoption isn't coming. It's HERE.

Cross-border money movement via crypto is one of those problems that sounds solved on X…until you actually try doing it at 10pm on a Tuesday when someone needs it. That gap between “should be easy” and “is easy” is what we’re here to close.
