@POTUS @SecRubio @StephenM The ONLY reason Turkey is a member of NATO was during the time of the Soviet Union and bringing Turkey into our orbit was a way to monitor the Soviets and keep them at bay. The USSR no longer exists since 1989 and since that time, two events occurred in Turkey: Erdogan became Prime Minister and his first action was to eliminate forever Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as the founder of a modern, secular Turkey Then, Erdogan began turning Turkey into another Islamic power in an effort to revitalize its predecessor, the Ottoman Empire. Turkey no longer has any commitment to NATO and is no longer a friend of the United States. President Trump is either deluded or is listening to bad advice: he cannot sell advanced F-35 combat jets to Turkey, unless he WANTS to foster a wider conflict in the Middle East. This is no way to foster his legacy in Middle Eastern affairs.
