National Homework Hotline volunteers love helping blind students & appreciate feedback like this: I met up with that wonderful computer science tutor. I can't tell you how much help she was to me. If there's a possibility to schedule again anytime next week that would be amazing.
We can't love this children's book enough!
We Move Together is a great tool for families, schools, and libraries to facilitate conversations about disability, accessibility, social justice, and community building.

September is special because it marks the start of a new school year, and it’s also Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) Awareness Month. Did you know that CVI has been the leading cause of visual impairment among children in the U.S. since the 1990s? #CVIAwareness
We are excited for the start of a new school year & the opportunity it brings. Many students will be returning to in-person learning for the 1st time since Mar. 2020. We are prepared to meet them where they are and build on their strengths and areas of growth over the past year.
Today is #InternationalLiteracyDay! On this day and every day VISTAS educators promote increased literacy among our blind/low vision students, including those with additional disabilities, by providing learning experiences that are grounded in students' interests and strengths.
A big "screw you" to any educator or professional that calls out an autistic student for holding their ears or stimming during loud noises.
So many "professionals" have NO idea what it is like to have auditory sensitivity and it shows. I'm so tired of our horrible school system.
The National Homework Hotline for Blind and Visually Impaired Students (NHH), which began as a short term, temporary service has reached its one year anniversary!
