I'm not sure why it's so hard for so many smart people to understand what's going on here The crazy science projects are emblems of the waste, they are not the point of the efficiency thrust

It's amazing, isn't it, that we expect the air on aircraft to be HEPA-filtered, but tolerate filthy, unfiltered air in kindergartens and schools.

Below, technicians change a HEPA filter designed to purify the air inside a plane in which passengers spend a few hours. It's astonishing that such filters aren't installed in all schools to protect the children who spend whole days there, sometimes in very confined rooms.

in 2022, i asked my internship placement team to please ATTEMPT to find a virtual or mask-required internship site for me since i’m so immunocompromised. this was not an unreasonable request- majority of the students in my program mainly did telehealth. i am on 3 immunosuppressants- one of which had a black box warning “increased risk for developing serious infections that may lead to hospitalization or death”. i provided doctors notes, labs, print outs about my condition, the levels of COVID, studies about COVID in immunocompromised individuals, and the medication manual. i provided the CDC’s recommendations that immunocompromised individuals reduce exposure as much as possible and that others mask around immunocompromised people. they denied my request- not because it was not a reasonable accommodation, but because there was “not enough information to determine reasonableness of request”. again, i provided CDC recommendations supporting my case, the medication manual with the black box warning stating that my medication puts me at an increased rate of serious infections that may cause hospitalization or death, and proof that i have been on this medication, along with 2 other immunosuppressants. colleges will deny accommodations simply because they do not want to do it.

This whole concept of dying 'with', versus dying 'from', is new and relates only to COVID, a far more serious common virus than any other. We never used to say people died 'with' flu or 'with' pneumonia. We still don't. It's very, very strange.

@YouAreLobbyLud We're back to the question of what is and isn't a "Covid Death", a question that hasn't been answered during the 'Covid period'. That graph apparently shows deaths where flu or Covid "contributes" to a death, but in what way and by how much did it contribute?

Of all the places to wear a mask - hospital & airplanes should be easy sells. Hospital - where the sickest people & strongest germs are. Airplane - you’re literally in a tin can in the sky within inches of ppl from ALL over the world. Why risk getting sick before destination?

I have to pre-mourn the loss of another person. A friend confided in me early on that he had severe cognitive impairment from Covid. He recently posted “I have been sick for about three years, with what is essentially Long Covid… I am learning to accept I may never been the same person before I was sick.” [but he’s gone back to training martial arts] Me: “Aren’t you worried about another infection?” Friend: “yes…I am always afraid. In fact, I have been reinfected since my original infection by a small group of friends I meet with twice a month … I am always aware of my surroundings and if I don't feel safe, I am out. I've got to try to be bigger than this disease, my friend.” How do people fail to understand that reinfection causes further damage? When your life is turned upside down wouldn’t you try to preserve your health & protect every possible means to see your kids grow up?

I'm not going to put any effort into refuting this point by point, because... Brandolini But, really?! I remain baffled by the vehement objection to cleaner air generally, and in schools in particular. Can anyone come up with a coherent explanation?

some people are very upset at the statement that some doctors might not know what they need to know you know how there are people who are bad at their jobs and don’t know shit about shit? doctors like that exist too. see also: all of the responses from chronically ill people

Literally, if you bring them research and even offer to summarize it, they make fun of you and ignore it. Like doctors do not read like people think they read. Granted, many don't have time & that's a larger issue, but it's still an issue.

If you’ve ignored your disabled friends advice to protect your health & try to avoid covid - only to end up with Long Covid - please don’t come to us for help by saying “promise me I won’t be as bad as you.” I can’t provide that reassurance AND it’s a hurtful question 🧵/1

This is 100% the correct advice for people working in customer service and sales. Unless you have personally been *documented* with doing something wrong, just acknowledge the problems and move to solving it. The apology phase also puts you in liability territory.
