Semen Retention:
(is extremely over rated…)
- Testosterone:
retention doesn’t raise testosterone at all. The viral “T jumps 145% on day 7 of not ejaculating” stat comes from a 2003 study that’s been retracted and never replicated. Ejaculation doesn’t lower your baseline testosterone.
- Cardiovascular health:
more sex = healthier heart & healthier penis & healthier blood vessels. Men with frequent sexual activity have lower rates of heart disease and stroke over a decade, and men with more orgasms had a lower risk of dying from coronary heart disease.
- Muscle recovery:
the “ejaculation = weaker lifts” myth is dead. A 2026 study put trained male athletes through testing 30 min after orgasm vs. after 7 days of abstinence. The post-sex condition actually produced slightly longer exercise duration, marginally higher grip strength, and lower LDH (a marker of muscle stress) — with no rise in inflammatory markers. Abstaining gives you no recovery edge.
- Nervous system:
Orgasm pushes oxytocin and prolactin up while dropping cortisol, which is why sexually active people report better sleep, lower stress, and more optimism the next day. It measurably lowers anxiety and tracks with lower rates of depression. If you care about drive, presence, and recovery, this cortisol-down/deep-sleep effect is the actual mechanism — and retention blocks it.
Vitality:
Your body is not a bank. It’s a system that runs better under use. Use it or lose it! Blood moves. Tissue turns over. The seed is renewed, not spent. Hoarding is a low Testosterone mindset.
Retention is fear of your own body, dressed as mastery.
Bottom line: on every measurable axis — hormones, heart, recovery, mood — healthy ejaculation wins, and retention’s headline claim is a retracted study in a mystical costume.

@himreysmakinton Semen Retention feels like a superpower to a lot of guys because they were already running on low T or heavy porn use.
Or didn’t have a meaningful challenge in real life .
Managing Cortisol:
(Stop trying to feel calm all day. Calm all day is a man with no curve)
- Spike it on purpose in the morning
The cortisol surge in your first hour awake is the engine of your day. Most men blunt it — phone in bed, dark room, coffee before light.
Get outside within 30 minutes. Ten minutes of real sun on skin and in the eyes. You’re not avoiding cortisol, you’re detonating it early so it falls at night.
- Front-load caffeine:
Caffeine’s half-life is ~6 hours. Your 3pm coffee is still half-active at 9pm, propping up the tail of the curve.
Coffee after sunlight, none after noon. Non-negotiable.
- Stop under-eating:
Chronic restriction reads as famine, and famine means cortisol. Stack fasting on hard training on bad sleep and you’ve built a cortisol machine.
- Train hard, then leave:
Lifting lowers resting cortisol. Living in the gym raises it. The difference between a stimulus and a stressor is whether you let it end.
- Know the off switch:
Nose breathing all day. When the spike hits: two inhales through the nose, one long exhale. Physiological sigh. Vagus nerve mechanics— the fastest hardwired way to drop your cortisol state.
- Nighttime ritual:
Dark room. Cold room. Same bedtime every night. Cortisol is a rhythm before it’s a number, and an irregular schedule flattens it faster than almost anything.
This is where health/testostrone is built.
Cortisol is part of life . There is no such thing as “no cortisol life” there is only a man with rhythm or a man without one.
Guys ejaculating daily with a woman and sleeping 8 hours/ lean muscular/ nutritious diet… aren’t drained — they’re the healthiest most vital
“Draining myself day after day” — that’s your answer. You went from something that felt like too much to zero. Of course you felt the change. But that’s the discipline, not the fluid. Real effect, wrong credit.
@TheEsocleric Semen retention gives lost/loser men something to win at, and winning at anything changes a man. But it’s the discipline, not the fluid.
Semen retention is a downgrade for men with healthy sex lives
Things that make your Dick smaller:
- Caffeine
- Nicotine
- Alcohol
- Weed
- Being over 20% body fat
- SSRIs
- Semen retention (past 2-4 weeks)
- finasteride/dutasteride
- Sedentary lifestyle
- chronic stress/cortisol
- Dehydration
- Diabetes
- Riding bicycles with small seats
Things that make your Dick bigger:
- Avoid everything that makes it smaller
- Vitamin D (from the sun)
- Sleeping 8 hours
- Mineral Water
- Cardio (zone 2 + HIT)
- nutrient-dense diet
- PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis, etc.)
- Testosterone optimization
- Sex/Attractive females
- Steroids (supraphysiological boners)
Dopamine Maxxing:
(how to improve dopamine sensitivity)
- Morning Sun light.
Getting bright sunlight in your eyes early raises baseline dopamine and sets your circadian rhythm. This is one of the most reliably supported levers. 5–10 minutes outside, more if overcast.
- Sleep:
Poor sleep downregulates dopamine receptors — you literally have fewer available the next day. Nothing else on this list compensates for chronically bad sleep.
- Exercise:
Raises dopamine & increases receptor density.
- Protein/tyrosine.
Dopamine is built from the amino acid L-tyrosine. A protein-adequate diet gives your body the raw material.
- Effort + delayed gratification.
Making yourself earn rewards — and not layering pleasures on top of each other (e.g. music + coffee + phone while doing something already enjoyable) — keeps the system responsive.
Note :
The people who feel best long-term aren’t the ones with the most intense highs — they’re the ones whose baseline is high enough that ordinary days feel good. That’s the whole game.
