@maidenwatch It's nonsense because you're saying he's broke, when he's put more money into club than any Chairman we've ever had. You're also judging our transfer strategy on Jul 10th - Patel said himself 2 weeks ago there'd be more incomings, but we cannot spend endlessly because of SCR.

@graeme_brown I'm sure there's some value in data-informed recruitment but it needs the right context & users need to understand its limitations. Last year, we signed players that completely contradicted the philosophy Nestor spoke of & were left without specialist players in some positions.

@WBAJacob2008 @WBA @WBAReport We had tens of millions a year in parachute money under Lai, then they ran out, then club was losing about £600kpw & would've gone bust if Patel hadn't bought us. We're now seeing a slow reversal of the utter mess Lai left. It was always likely to get worse before it gets better.

@gillpind When you say hounded, we'd gone 10 league games w'out a win, conceding 18 in process (little evidence of defensive organisation) & were careering towards relegation. The transfer strategy he oversaw that summer left us with no legs in midfield & no effective outlet ball up top.

@dazzavilla Very impressive. Slightly less so if you just consider the last 100 years, during which Villa have accumulated only 1 top division title and 1 FA Cup. In that same period, Wolves have managed 5 and Albion 3. Most of Villa's domestic success was before the first world war.

@rickyleegriffi @DanielO17536458 If you take away tribalism and rivalry from football, there's not a lot left. Of course Grant/Mepham won't care it's Villa & they can be mates with who they want. But they also get paid enough money to be cognisant of the optics of publicly celebrating the success of rival clubs.

@Knave_of_Albion I think PSR might've been more manageable now & become trickier for others. Perhaps SP thinks the £11m/yr flexibility top-ups will benefit us, if he's willing to invest, albeit Stoke/Blues/Wrexham/Boro etc likely do same. Seems from FAB notes that revenue growth is a priority.

@TheVan @suttonbaggie Couldn't agree more. He's got no outstanding attributes & lacks fortitude - he'll happily lose personal battles and go missing, which has been emblematic of our decline. There has to be better value on the market than giving him another contract.

@AlbionAnalysis Furthermore, he's the only player at the club who signed their current deal whilst we were in the PL so it's almost certain that he's on a very generous contract, for which we're not seeing value for money. Definitely let him go. We need players with a stronger mentality (2/2).

@AlbionAnalysis He has no outstanding attributes, lacks end product, is physically weak & far too happy to routinely lose personal battles. That we have fans citing him as one of our better players, because he's started putting effort in since his Cardiff loan, shows how far we've declined (1/2)
