@bleacherbum099 Here were Heyward’s year by year fWAR before the Cubs signed him: 4.7 1.9 5.3 3.1 4.7 5.6 His best fWAR with the Cubs was 2.4 in 2019. In his initial season with the Cubs, his wRC+ was 72. 72!! He eventually hit a little better for them but his defense completely cratered.
@bleacherbum099 Yeah. I know it sucks right now and I still think he’ll be “fine” this year. Though not particularly “good”, my one goal is life is to constantly remind people of how fucking bad Heyward was as a player. People forget as he fades off into the land of myths and legends

I’m have really enjoyed Ottavino tonight. I’m sure there are many people who hate him because that’s what people do but to me, he’s quite insightful and made this wretched game almost watchable
Nobody cares but if you’re watching the Cubs on ESPN tonight then you’re getting tremendous insight from Adam Ottavino about pitch to pitch decision making and general strategy. Which is both (1) cool to listen to and (2) surprising because I swear Jed was about to trade for him.
Just not the Cubs night. Completely dumbfounded by these Tigers pitchers

@bleacherbum099 I would like both of those guys. I think they are around what we can expect. A rotation that starts with those two and Boyd and Shota looks like a playoff roster with this Cubs every day player group as long as they bring in a couple of relievers too

@_SamMcGonigle As a corner outfielder, he needs to hit around 10% above league average just to have value. If he’s hitting anything like he’s hit this year, he’s only a bench player. If he were a center fielder playing like PCA, he could afford to be as bad of hitter as he is
@ElDuderino_1 @TheConnorPils Bradley was an amazing defensive outfielder. Probably one of the top 5-10 best this century. You may think he was a bad hitter and you’d be right but he was an incredible defender
As I’ve said many times before. PCA is extremely underrated. Because he plays a key defensive position at an elite level, his floor is credibly high even before he picks up a bat. Average hitting PCA is solid regular. If he does what he’s doing this year, he’s one of the best
Back to reality for PCA - one of the most overhyped players in MLB history.
