Henry Cavill says he actually misses Superman’s classic red trunks and would be open to bringing them back “I kind of miss the grandma panties on Superman.” “I really loved my suit. I thought it was pretty cool. However, if it were to happen again, I would definitely be open to the idea of adding the trunks in some way, shape, or form.” Stephen Colbert then jokes: “Maybe something tasteful like a little red thong or something like that. Yeah. Just in the back.”

Henry Cavill says Tom Cruise is so protective of his co-stars that he acts like a “mother hen” around them, despite doing some of the most dangerous stunts in Hollywood. “He gets very worried about us. And we’re doing lesser things, particularly me, you know, I’m just doing fine. I’m not hanging off any helicopters.” “I remember he came in and I had that fight in Rogue Nation and I get thrown against the wall and he comes in and he worries like your mum about it.” “He sort of clucks around us a little bit like a mother hen, but then he goes off and falls off the top of the world.” Cavill and Simon Pegg also say stunt performers deserve their own major recognition because of how much work goes into designing, testing and safely executing the elaborate stunts audiences see on screen.

Alan Ritchson says he was terrified while filming a high-stakes underwater scene where he had to walk the length of a massive research pool with weights. “I was like, ‘He died doing what he loves, walking with weights underwater.’ And what a great obituary that would be.” “I just tried to walk myself to death, but I don’t know how I did it. I swear to God, but it was real.” “I think it was like 3 minutes or something. Like, I just kept going, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to do it.’”

ONE DAY YOU'LL REWATCH YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO MOVIE AND REALIZE YOU WERE NEVER WATCHING IT FOR THE REASON YOU THOUGHT. As a kid, you loved the powers. As an adult, you notice the choices. And suddenly the same movie hits completely differently.

YOU CAN SPEND $200 MILLION ON A SUPERHERO MOVIE AND STILL LOSE THE AUDIENCE WITH ONE BAD CHARACTER. Spectacle gets people into the theater. Characters are what make them care. That's the difference between a movie people watch and a movie people remember.

A GREAT SUPERHERO MOVIE DOESN'T MAKE YOU WISH YOU HAD SUPERPOWERS. It makes you understand why the person with them is willing to sacrifice everything. That's a much harder story to tell.

THE INTERNET CAN SPOIL A SUPERHERO MOVIE BEFORE YOU EVEN GET TO THE THEATER. Trailer breakdowns. Leaks. Cameos. Fan theories. Sometimes I miss watching a movie knowing absolutely nothing about what was coming next.

THE MOST ICONIC SUPERHERO SCENES ARE OFTEN THE ONES NOBODY EXPECTED TO BECOME ICONIC. No giant crossover. No massive CGI battle. Just one actor, one line, one look... and somehow the scene becomes unforgettable.

SOME SUPERHERO MOVIES AGE BETTER THAN THE PEOPLE WHO WATCHED THEM. You watch them as a kid and remember the action. You watch them years later and suddenly understand the loneliness, sacrifice and choices you completely missed the first time.

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST TIME A SUPERHERO FINALLY PUTS ON THE SUIT. You've seen the costume in posters. You've seen it in trailers. But when the music hits and the character finally becomes the hero... the theater feels different.

THE BEST SUPERHERO VILLAINS DON'T JUST FIGHT THE HERO. THEY ATTACK WHAT THE HERO BELIEVES IN. That's why some villains stay in your head long after the movie ends. The fight was never really about who could punch harder.

A SUPERHERO MOVIE HAS DONE ITS JOB WHEN YOU WALK OUT OF THE THEATER WANTING TO BE A BETTER PERSON. Not because the hero was the strongest. Because they chose to keep going when giving up would've been easier.

THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIES MAKE YOU CARE ABOUT THE PERSON BEFORE YOU CARE ABOUT THE POWER. The suit can be iconic. The CGI can be incredible. But if you don't care about the person wearing the suit, none of it matters.
