In the last 3 years, I've paid myself $0 at @WayoWork. Not because I couldn’t. Because every dollar that comes in does more good somewhere that isn't my account. Most of it goes to the people building this with me – a lot of them on equity right now, betting on something they can't fully see yet. They earn it before I do. Some of it keeps the tech moving, so booking a Workday stops being the headache it used to be. The rest goes into the experience – the room, the lunch, whoever you end up sitting next to. I watch the number in my own account drop most mornings. My wife has carried our family while I've been building this. That's the real cost of choosing not to pay myself, and I chose it on purpose. Because a salary for me right now buys one thing. That same money in the team, the tech, and the Wayoers buys the whole thing a better shot at working. So I keep making the same call. Every dollar goes into them, none into me until this is big enough that paying myself doesn't come at anyone else's expense. I never stepped into entrepreneurship for the money. Right now it's just more useful in everyone's hands but mine.

New Yorkers need to be wayomaxxing. Meeting founders. Work from beautiful venues. Drinking good coffee. Sitting next to someone smarter. Getting introduced to the person who changes their business. Building accountability without a manager. Doing deep work for four hours straight. Just fully showing up, enjoying their work, and leaving with new connections.

A founder I know spent 10 years in hedge funds. He was working on-site until covid happened. Then he started working from cafes and coworking spots but couldn’t find a place that matched his interests. He started discussing it with 1000 remote workers and saw a common problem: Remote work solved where people work, but it broke how they work together. Millions of people got location freedom and lost every coworker they'd ever eat lunch with. So now… He spends his weeks getting NYC's founders and remote workers out of their apartments and into the same room. And this week? This week’s Workdays were at the Branch & 33 Hotel and the rooms were PACKED. One big space. > founders and remote workers > good coffee > included lunch > 1-1 intros made > all the business connection happened Everything a workday should have been all along. Watching this thing grow week after week has been something else. NYC's remote workers finally have a room of their own. P.S. At this point ig you know the founder is me. And it's my story.
