Good news! The ferry will be back in service starting with the 5 pm run from Lummi Island to the mainland.
The onsite contractor has made good progress addressing the equipment issue at the Gooseberry Point dock. Whatcom Chief ferry service remains suspended at this time. Next update by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19.

Reminder: Ferry punch card sale/exchange Wed, May 13, 5:40 a.m.–2:40 p.m. at the Lummi Island Ferry Office (island-side terminal). Payments via check, money order, or credit card. No cash. Punch card exchanges can only be completed in person at scheduled exchange events.
The Whatcom Chief is back in service and expected to run a full schedule tonight. Thank you for your patience during this unanticipated outage.
The steering repairs are underway. We are hoping to do sea trials within an hour. Thank you for your continued patience.

The Whatcom Chief will be taken out of service beginning at 10:30 a.m. today to allow crews to complete repairs related to a steering issue identified Monday evening. At this time, there is no estimated time for service to resume. Thank you for your patience.
We will resume limited ferry service for the remainder of tonight's schedule. Riders should also expect limited service on Tuesday morning until a necessary repair is completed. Thank you for your patience.
