Financial abuse is behaviour that negatively impacts on your partner and the relationship. These includes: - Forbidding your partner to work and sabotaging employment/business opportunities because you want to be 10 steps ahead always, so you can have autonomy over financial decisions and control how much they can have per time. This is problematic because their welfare is entirely dependent on your mood. - Having full control over how family income is spent and invested. - Running the family into debts, having blown the family income on what only you know. - Spending family income outside of the family. - Refusing to work/contribute to the family income. That is, "my money is my money." - Refusing to pay bills and putting all the financial responsibility on your partner, even if it means they have to run into debt. - Hiding assests - having investments or properties your partner know nothing about. - Forcing your partner to hand over their entire income and benefits to you, to be spent by you at your discretion.
