Tomorrow at 12 PM, Amb. Olaniyan Olushola, President of the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation, will be speaking as a panelist at the 2026 Information Integrity Webinar Series #1. He will be joining fellow key stakeholders, including representatives from Factcheck Africa and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to discuss the crucial theme: "Information Integrity and Democratic Processes: Elections in the Digital Age." The session will center on tackling misinformation, propaganda, and fostering responsible digital campaigning ahead of the 2027 elections. During the panel, he will be sharing Wikimedia’s strategy for managing content integrity before, during, and after electoral cycles. This invitation underscores the vital role Wikimedians play as information gatekeepers and key players in preserving a healthy digital ecosystem during democratic processes. That’s a wrap on the Wiki In School 2026 Training! From June 4th to June 7th, 2026, Wikimedia User Group Nigeria hosted an intensive in-person training session in Lagos, officially launching the next phase of the Wiki In School (WIS) 2026 program. The goal? To equip Nigerian tertiary lecturers with 21st-century digital literacy and research skills so they can guide their students in contributing high-quality, academic content to Wikipedia.
