Das "D" in EU steht für Demokratie: Parlament hat bereits zweimal gegen die Chatkontrolle gestimmt. Jetzt versucht man es in einem unzulässigen Eilverfahren kurz vor der Sommerpause (und dreht Sonneborn das Mikro nach exakt 60 Sekunden ab). Um die Chatkontrolle doch noch zu stoppen, bräuchte es eine absolute Mehrheit von 361 Nein-Stimmen. Bei geringer Anwesenheit (viele bereits im Urlaub) ist das quasi nicht zu erreichen. Die Regelung würde dann automatisch durchgehen. Im Übrigen bin ich der Meinung, dass die EU zerstört werden muss.

Ich habe heute versucht, die Chatkontrolle zu stoppen. Am Wochenende mussten Sibylle Berg und ich Parlamentspräsidentin Metsola schriftlich mitteilen, dass das Durchprügeln der Chatkontrolle im Eilverfahren leider gegen die Geschäftsordnung des EU-Parlaments verstößt. Während

Da reibt man sich als Abgeordneter ungläubig die Augen: Eigentlich war die Chat-Kontrolle vom Tisch. Doch kurz vor der Sommerpause – während alle die Badeutensilien packen und auf die Fußball-WM schielen – schiebt die Parlamentspräsidentin das Thema klammheimlich wieder auf die Agenda. Natürlich unter anderem Namen. Heute wird also abgestimmt, ob das Ganze am Donnerstag zur Abstimmung kommt. Realsatire pur. Und tatsächlich: Das Dringlichkeitsverfahren wird angenommen – am Donnerstag wird nun in der Sache selbst entschieden, das Manöver ist aufgegangen. Unglaublich!

CHAT CONTROL IS BACK → Today the urgent procedure for Chat Control 1.0 was passed. NEXT UP: The EU Parliament is voting on Thursday. If Chat Control passes: your messages, pictures, videos will all be scanned because the law will require it - this removes privacy and welcomes mass surveillance in the EU. What's happening? If Chat Control is passed, it will force client-side scanning - so companies will have to scan the contents of private communications, including encrypted messages and emails, before they are sent. In March, it was voted against, but it's back and it was pushed through via urgent procedure. This changes the rules of the vote (of course to be in favour of chat control). Shockingly, blocking it now requires absolute  majority 361 out of the Parliament's 720 members, to be rejected. This is hard to reach because: ‼️ People who do not vote are AUTOMATICALLY VOTED AS YES-VOTE in this procedure. ‼️ This was tactfully done: it's the summer break, this makes it even harder to reach 361 no-votes.
