Full story of Zeudi getting overcharged Mum, so my mum and I went to see Gabri. Gabri lives in Pompeii, okay? So we went from Naples to Pompeii. We were driving to Pompeii and, at some point, we reached the toll booth—the beloved, wonderful toll booth. We paid the toll, which every year feels like such a hassle, but that’s not the point because we have to pay it, so we pay it. At one point I said, “Okay, let’s use the coins and cards, so if one doesn’t work, we can use the other.” Anyway, at some point we decided to put in coins. We put in €2.50 when the toll was supposed to be €2.30, so the machine should have even given us change. What happens? The toll booth freezes. So we thought, “Okay, it’s frozen. Let’s call assistance, tell them we put the money in, have them check it, and then we’ll go.” In our heads, at worst, we thought we might have to put in some more money. Anyway, guys, not only did assistance not answer, but the machine also issued an unpaid-toll notice. So I had to pay through my banking app: enter their IBAN, the payment reference, the recipient’s name, and pay the €2.30, plus the bank transfer fee, obviously. Imagine—the toll ended up costing me €10 because I had to pay it twice, and then pay online as well. It was an absolute mess. I’m telling you this to warn you about the Salerno–Naples toll booth, because when we came back, the exact same thing happened to the person in front of us. So, Amit, what is going on? Are these machines stealing people’s money? Let’s spread the word, because I know this is happening. I also saw a video from a girl who posted about it on TikTok, on the other platform, saying that these machines are actually taking people’s money. And in my opinion, this is something that needs to be talked about. Why? Because we pay the money, the toll operator takes our money, but we don’t receive the service—we experience a malfunction. And instead of saying, “Ma’am, don’t worry, just go through and we’ll handle the complaint,” no, you have to pay twice. “Oh yes, I’m doing all this for you, I work for you.” That’s the problem. At least I noticed what had happened, but that poor guy didn’t. I don’t think he even realized what happened. He probably just took the ticket and left, leaving the unpaid-toll notice behind. Anyway, I paid it. But look, this whole thing is ridiculous. Something similar happened to me many times when I used to go to the gym at Antonella’s. Antonella’s is the gym in Colano, and sometimes they didn’t accept prepaid cards. Since I didn’t have the banking option, I would pay and everything, and they would give me a receipt. Okay, in that case, I understand. If you don’t accept prepaid cards, fine. But the fact that you take my money, don’t give it back to me, and then make me pay twice—and on top of that I have to pay the transfer fee—means that €2.30 ends up costing me €10. That was on the Naples–Salerno, Salerno–Naples route. But I’m telling you this because it’s an injustice. It’s not about the €2.30; I don’t care about that money. It’s the fact that this happens to so many people. Imagine how much extra money they’re collecting through this whole system, because it’s a service failure. Today it happens to me, tomorrow it happens to someone else. Imagine how many people pass through there and how much extra money they make. #zeudiners #zeudi
