You can spend 30–40 years paying off your home and still owe thousands every year for the privilege of keeping it. Now imagine being 75 or 85, living on a fixed income, with a house you worked your entire life to own and a property-tax bill that keeps climbing. Property taxes need serious reform or even better, they need to be abolished. At some point, especially for seniors who have paid off their primary residence, we need to ask: Do you really own your home if you have to keep paying the government forever just to stay in it?
