I’ve just finished watching the documentary “Gaza: Doctors Under Attack.” Everything it shows aligns with what I lived through. During the three days of my abduction in November 2023, I was denied all medical treatment—even after Israeli soldiers beat me in the face and stomach before bringing me to the detention facility, which I believe was Sde Teman, based on photos released later. I was blindfolded and handcuffed the entire time, even when I was allowed to use the toilet—once a day. There was no water to clean myself afterward. There were about 114 of us in that facility. Some detainees were assaulted simply for asking to see a doctor. On the second day, we were all taken to what they called a “medical checkup.” But it wasn’t to treat anyone. It was just to ask if we had any chronic illnesses. When they removed my blindfold, a soldier stood next to the so-called doctor, aiming an M-16 rifle directly at my face. I was still handcuffed. I told them about the internal bleeding I had in my nose and the pain I felt after being kicked in the face. I told them about the severe pain I felt in my ear where I had a surgery a few months ago. They didn’t examine me. They didn’t ask about my injuries. They didn’t offer a single pill. What they gave me instead was a number. A detainee number.
