There's an epidemic of loneliness in science: Most Scientists move around & usually end up living far from friends they made in their youth. When they settle in a permanent place they're older & have busy lives/careers. All this means many scientists don't have a lot of friends.
If you just use the Following tab instead of the For You tab then it’s fine. My timeline hasn’t changed (other than being a bit quieter). It all depends on who you follow.
Twitter used to be useful to get updates on latest scientific papers but since it became X, the science papers gradually got buried in a mountain of political messages from non-followed groups/people. I can't find useful information now, or need to spend a lot of time doing so

@seanbax If C++ enthusiasts and the standards committee ever thought in the line of "why not just"s everyone would be using C. Bjarne openly laments about the size of C++ yet the committee seems completely decoupled from that reality!
Honestly this is probably the single best advice for making it through grad school or a postdoc as well. Just get stuff done. It may feel smart to critique things well, it may even be useful, but ultimately you are judged on what you've gotten done
