We wonder why our babies are starving in America? Why we have a corrupt healthcare system? Why we lack clean food, air and water?
Look at our Congress.
Look at them shower a man who has starved Gaza, bombed hospitals, and murdered tens of thousands of people.
The US will lecture the world about international law and order then greet a genocidal war criminal with ovation and applause. This is US hypocrisy on full display.
I am trying to pull on anger but I am grief stricken. My stomach turns when I try to speak. How do I explain that burning children alive in tents is bad? Who does not know that? What is this system we’ve built that has normalized advanced tech barbarism & dares to lecture us?
When people respond to horrifying incidents of civilian deaths in Gaza by saying, “in the war Hamas started?” or “what about Hamas’s rockets?” or “Israel has a right to defend itself,” what they are actually saying is: “I support the mass killing of civilians.”
There are videos coming out of Rafah today of beheaded babies.
Actual beheaded babies that you can see for yourselves - not the beheaded babies that the Israeli authorities invented to justify their genocidal assault, or the ones that Biden falsely claimed to have seen pix of.
"Everyone is staying really focused on why we're out there," says Imogen Page, a U of M grad student with Jewish Voice for Peace Twin Cities. "There's a genocide in Gaza, and we're demanding that our university stop funding it." racketmn.com/university-of-…
This thread is a prime example of the misleading ways that antisemitism is often reported. I can tell you as EIC of @JewishCurrents that often we look into a high-profile antisemitic occurrence and it falls apart under scrutiny. Most of the time, no one corrects the record.
I did hear "kill the Jews," said by a counter-protester holding an Israeli flag, seemingly as a provocative joke in response to the group's pro-Palestine chants. Not sure if that's the specific incident @Northeastern leadership is referring to
Contrast this picture—masked fascists smugly strolling through a public street with no police presence whatsoever—with that of the hundreds of students being brutalized by riot cops on college campuses around the country for sitting on the grass to protest a genocide.
Young people developed analysis and moral imagination for solidarity w Palestine in significant part because they learned and fought racialized oppression protesting police murder of George Floyd. Now their anti-genocide protests are met with police brutality—connecting the dots.
“I am a Holocaust survivor. I experienced as a child every single thing a Gazan child is experiencing on a daily basis. There’s no excuse 4 the slaughter of 15K children. I am proud to be here with you.”
Amazing Jewish solidarity at encampment at GWU #FreePalestine#Occupy4Gaza
