A transport refund from an ACFODE community training program became the starting point for Tumurenze Yeseri's pig-rearing business. Today, the venture helps her pay school fees and earn extra income for her family. Beyond the financial gains, she now shares lessons on peacebuilding, family cooperation, and shared responsibility with other women in her community; earning her the nickname "Peace." Young people and couples gathered for ACFODE's mental health sessions last week, where they spoke openly about trauma, stress, hope, and healing. From sharing personal experiences to learning healthy coping mechanisms, participants reflected on the importance of seeking support, building positive relationships, and focusing on rebuilding their lives. Individual counseling was also provided to those in need of additional psychosocial support. In May 2026, the Ministry of Water and Environment predicted prolonged dry spells across many parts of Uganda between June and August, warning of possible impacts on water access, food production, and household incomes. When drought hits, women and girls are often the hardest affected. Many walk longer distances to find water, struggle to provide food for their families, and take on more unpaid care work at home. Climate action must work for everyone. Women and girls should have a voice in decisions about climate solutions and access to the resources they need to adapt and thrive. We call on leaders, communities, and development partners to invest in climate solutions that protect livelihoods and support women and girls. No one should be left behind. Many students in Kyegegwa schools identify tribalism as a barrier to friendship and inclusion. One student summed it up simply: "We even sit according to our tribes." This happened during ACFODE's peacebuilding sessions in schools across Kyegegwa District. The discussions encouraged learners to reflect on their attitudes, embrace diversity, and promote peaceful coexistence. During a community radio talk show, model couples shared how learning new skills and choosing to do things differently helped strengthen their relationships. Listeners responded positively, with one caller saying he was listening with his wife and that the discussion had given them a new perspective on their own relationship. We hosted a Project Review Visit from the We Effect Uganda Country Office, providing an opportunity to reflect on implementation progress, share lessons learned, and discuss strategies for maximizing the impact of core financial support.

The impact of positive role models cannot be overstated. At Itambabiniga and Bukere Primary Schools, members of GBV Prevention Clubs explored conflict management, peaceful coexistence, and mental wellbeing. What stood out most was seeing current club members inspired by former participants who are now thriving in secondary school.
