NEW: In response to exploitation by Uber & Lyft, drivers in NYC are forming a worker-owned rideshare cooperative called @TheDriversCoop. The new app offers cheaper rides and returns all profits to the drivers. It could defeat Uber & Lyft with New Yorkers’ support.

But the key question here that has yet to be answered is whether these reductions outweigh the added emissions caused by TNC driving + unfettered deadheading
@TheRideshareGuy @wcoleman I'm guessing you mean TNCs make up 13% of all trips in SF. Trips are different than traffic congestion (measured by vehicle-hours of delay). The same @sfcta study found that TNCs make up 25% of citywide and 36% of downtown congestion on an absolute basis bit.ly/35fp6nC

@kvnweb Thank you! I agree. Transportation regulation only goes so far when billion-dollar companies have a direct financial incentive to flood city streets with idle drivers. The labor/wage side of things is much more impactful in this case.
