@MrKafkaGoodhart @abbotsbury92 @feelsdesperate Chris Rufos book is really good and straightforward. It's surprisingly non ideological. I took critical race theory classes in college at a very liberal school and found the theory very accurately represented.

@HippyMomPhD I did not teach my kids to skip count. I haven't seen data on it, but logic tells me it's a gigantic waste of time. I know many homeschoolers disagree but I just don't get it.

@JoeKennewick They banned thin plastic bags and *required* thick ones. Once stores started getting paid for thick plastic bags, reusable biodegradable paper bags mysteriously disappeared. Does it really take a team of credentialed geniuses, a $$ research grant, and a mess of statistics?

@teachrobotslove I went gray in my late teens. This was a huge career benefit. People perceived me as more mature, seasoned, authoritative. You can't judge a book by its cover...but everyone does.

@CivicNatalist This is so true. "So much time is wasted in public schools." I homeschool and my kids are 9, 6, 3 and 1. We don't waste time, we just set it on fire and watch it burn 😂 (And I hire a sitter a few mornings a week so we can actually get to it).

@KindnessIsBasic @Nover68 @ashleysbored That's pre-5th grade though. Totally agree elementary cannot be online/tech based (what is in public schools now is too much and counterproductive), and I think the longer tech is delayed beyond that, the better. But on average, teachers are average. Great teachers don't scale.
