It is driven by two short-term forces: The Liquidity Scramble: When a major war breaks out, global institutions panic and run to the most liquid asset on earth to cover their margins: the US Dollar. This creates an artificial, temporary spike in the DXY. The Inflation/Yield Trap: The attacks in the Middle East caused oil prices to spike.
