Makes a lot of sense when you break it down into coherent reasoning. The AC Question is simple really.
1. Heat reduces cognitive performance, especially attention, working memory, reaction speed, maths/problem-solving, sleep quality, and learning.
2. Sleep strongly affects cognitive ability. Poor or short sleep reliably impairs attention, vigilance, working memory, decision-making, learning, and memory consolidation.
3. Excess heat at night tends to worsen sleep, leading to shorter total sleep and less deep sleep. Poorer sleep leads to poorer daytime functioning.
4. The "far left" engage politically on an emotional level, often supporting political violence, hostility, and anti-social actions to support their goals.
5. This political class uses a number of tricks against people they oppose, or who oppose them, including reductio ad hitlerum, 'poisoning the well', and brandolini's law:
- they reduce arguments to be similar to Hitler to discount it as false/bad, aka, the Nazi card
- they discredit people before arguments are heard by attaching toxic labels to them (far right, facist, nazi etc)
- they leverage the cost of refuting bullshit being much higher than that of producing it to great effect
6. The above is necessary when you're unable to engage on an intellectual level because your opponents can outmanoeuvre and out think you and where listening to their views (reason, logic, etc) makes it harder to exercise reductive engagement or abuse
7. Sleeping in the heat leads to poorer sleep, which leads to poorer educational and life outcomes, which leads to worse education and thinking, which leads to "far left" views, including AC being bad/evil
8. Sleeping in the cold leads to better sleep, which leads to better educational and life outcomes, which leads to better education and thinking, which leads to "far right" views, including AC being good/healthy
9. Thus the "far right" or as I call them "far correct" people can use science and evidence to show that cool air is beneficial to humans, and
10. The "far left" or "what's left (of braincells)" who most likely aren't in a position to have AC because they don't work hard because they tend to have poorer educations* or work ethics, advocate for nobody having AC
11. Which is the "far left" or idiotista paradigm: reduce everyone to the lowest common denominator
* the except here being the champagne left who grow up privileged and educated, who usually become this way through taking wealth from others usually in a nationalist/socialist (nazi, nasi, NAtionalist SOcialist) state, e.g. Miatta Fahnbulleh the Labour MP and possible incoming "far left" chancellor who grew up privileged yet will likely tax everyone who works hard
TLDR:
- cold air —> thinking better —> "far right"
- hot air —> thinking worse —> "far left"

@sambass_io@levelsio It's the weird war on AC that gets me. Cooler air leads to better thinking and better sleep. Better sleep leads to better thinking. Better thinking leads to better societies.
Is it any wonder then that society is degrading before our very eyes?
Glad I listened to @levelsio and got AC, this heatwave has so far consisted of a lovely walk to the shop and then back into an 18°C house, sleeping like a baby in 18°C snug under my duvet, and working in, you guessed it, 18°C.
I’m in an area that is black on the map and for two years now I haven’t had a heatwave problem. AC is the answer.
The one thing insufferable about Europeans is they usually can't admit they have a problem when they have it and will keep showing outlier cases to justify their point
The % of buildings in Europe with AC installed in 2026 is still just 20%!
It's 90% in the US, which means
