Let me rephrase this question. Trudeau had to ask the Governor General to prorogue parliament. What was the legal basis of his request? Her decision to allow this has now be questioned, and legal challenges are being organized. The Supreme Court could be asked to adjudicate this quickly. Trudeau and the Governor General could be asked to testify. So on what basis did Trudeau request this drastic move? Granting him this wish, because he's lost the confidence of his party doesn't seem very democratic. The Governor General should have asked if there was anyone else ready to be PM. If not, then she should have launched an election. The fact that the Liberals are unorganized is none of her concern. Our country is based on commons law. Our Parliament, in particular, is based on a lot of precedents and traditions. If we allow this without protesting, we're simply allowing a new precedent.
