pixel art will be the first kind of art to be automated by AI. i found myself enjoying a lot pixel art and i know at some point this will become really accessible. i dont think it's a bad thing but it kind of remove the creative form of a video game. music, sounds, code can be generated to almost any extent. the field where the creativity will stays almost "untouched" is game design, at least until the ai can playtest itself :/ but whether it knows what part is fun and what's not remains the question
Why would you disclose it thats like shooting yourself in the foot. Pretty sure most ai gen games aren't disclosing it. This only exists to make it looks like valve care and make consumers happy
I never bought a single game from the Epic Games Store, but I gladly redeem all the free games. I'm just going to buy all my games on Steam because it requires developers to disclose AI-generated content.
@dyrkabes yeah it's for generating assets, i'm in the same boat as you i avoid using these as well
eventually we'll reach a point where we wouldn't recognize whether an asset is ai generated or not, this is only a temporary solution to a never ending problem

the steam page was getting impressions from my web playable build from newgrounds, incrementaldb, itch ( i had a wishlist button in game that redirect to the page)
hit #1 featured on newgrounds i was getting lot of visibility, so i didn't really had to do marketing initially

My guess is that Steam started giving it more visibility once the game had decent sales and positive reviews. I could be wrong, but it feels like if people buy the game, enjoy it, and leave positive reviews, it can slowly snowball from there.
Right now it’s around 3k sales and 100 reviews, so about 3% of buyers left a review, which seems above average for Steam. I think that probably helped a lot

pulled this off in 3 months and i focused on making a fun game. initially part of an entry for the Lame Jam on itch and eventually ended up #1 in enjoyment category
i knew the concept was validated and had to make the whole game from there
some marketing is needed on the beginning to get feedbacks (reddit, twitter...), eventually you want to set up analytics to track at what point players drop off
once at least 50% players finished the small demo to the end it was good signal to make the steam page
i didn't wanted really to grind tiktok, shorts or reddit posts and it wasn't really working well anyway. I published my demo as web playable on newgrounds, incrementaldb, galaxyclick and it took off by itself
reached about 1k wishlist in a few weeks from my web playable demo, then close to launch steam personal calendar helped it reach 2k + other content creators covered it
i was expecting a few hundred sales but people seemed to enjoy my garbage game much more than I thought
i'd say the main thing is to make a genuinely good game and iterate with players feedback
