During a cross-functional Slack huddle, two product managers used an acronym I had never seen before. They typed BOGO when discussing a software bug. I messaged them privately to request the documentation for this new terminology. One of them laughed and said it just meant Buy One Get One because fixing one bug caused another. I explained that using unregulated slang creates an exclusionary micro-culture that alienates others. He apologized and said it was just a harmless joke between engineers. I reminded him that humor should be universally accessible and pre-approved by internal communications. He asked if I wanted him to write a formal apology to the chat. I told him I wanted a full glossary of their personal shorthand uploaded to the company intranet by EOD. I logged “clandestine linguistic exclusion” in his peer review. Words mean things, especially on company wifi.

@drewlevin @Alune55 Hey mate, OCE's still on +18 -20 or something like that for masters, the ladder has inflated 2x lp, but gains are slower, if dodging is increased, please don't increase oce, also fix the ladder, least I've played in 10 years, ranked is super grindy, but feels coinflippier, see ^^

"Season 16 sucks! Matchmaking! ELO inflation! Duo abusing! Wah wah wah!" You are all missing the point and the ingenuity of what Riot Games has accomplished. Season 16 has brought us a new genre of League of Legends. Throughout the entirety of Season 15, the #1 echoed complaint was that League of Legends felt stale. The game was in a balanced state. Every ranked game followed the exact same flowchart. Each role (minus jungle and support lol) had their own strengths and weaknesses. For the first time in 15 years, League of Legends was balanced. And it was boring. Sure, Riot could just completely balance-thrash the game to spice things up - but that accomplishes nothing. A horribly balanced fiesta may not be stale, but it sure isn't fun! League of Legends needed something to break the monotony. Something that was DIFFERENT. Something that was FRESH. Something that was NEW, but also kept the game as what we all know and love. And so, Riot Games did the impossible: They seamlessly added a completely new element to League of Legends, a whole pre-existing genre of it's own. Social Deduction. By instantaneously decaying the integrity of the ranked ladder, a new aspect and strategy was added to ranked solo/duo queue. Social Deduction games have been popular for decades, from murder mysteries to Town of Salem all the way to Among Us. Traditional social deduction games are based on two roles: The Innocent, and The Impostor. It's the Innocent's job to deduce who the Impostors are and work together with their fellow Innocents to thwart their goals. By randomly inflating everybody by thousands of LP AND adding in multiple layers of anonymity, Riot Games has essentially merged a traditional social deduction game with good old ranked League of Legends. The Impostors (1,000+LP inflated players) are on your team in disguise with the sole purpose of ensuring your Nexus explodes. It's your job as an Innocent to try your best to identify who the Impostor is and who your fellow Innocents are. Once you figure out who the Impostor is, you do absolutely everything in your power to empower yourself, weaken them, and not let them throw the game. Your jungler is the Impostor? Lowroll. Take all of their camps off CD. Do not help them on bad invades/lost objectives, and if it looks like they're throwing? They probably are. Let them die. Your toplaner is a confirmed Innocent? Nice! Shadow them, play around them, trust to their pings/comms, and try to win! If you haven't been having fun with Season 16, I promise you: Treat the game like Among Us. Only then will you be able to appreciate the genius of Riot Games.
